This page was origionally intended to be a list of where to go, but I have begun to realize just how much maintenance a page like that would require. Every time I find a great club or party, it moves, changes, reschedules. Who can keep up? So instead, I am going to address the larger issue of wether to go out or not and what sort of places a T-Grl can go, and what to expect when you do. Of course as far as I'm concerned, there is no place a CD/TG can't go if propperly dressed, but let's face it; some places are easier than others. So what is there to consider when you decide to venture out into the world. I've talked about what to wear, after that it's all attitude. And I don't mean some street tough, loud mouthed, bad assed biker chic kind of attitude. That has it's place, but unless you are ready to back it up it isn't the best place to start, no matter what you are wearing. If you feel like a lady and look like a lady, then if you act like a lady you will [usually] be treated like a lady. |

Bearing all that positive mental attitude swill in mind, remember... You will not pass. O.K., some of you will but most of us will not. And none of us will fool everyone. But why should we? My idealistic nature screams that I (and you) have the right to express yourself any way you please, within reason. And therein lies the problem. What I consider within reason may differ greatly with what others do. So, since I do not feel like climbing up on my soap box, I'll save that for another day. For now let's assume that there are those that will accept us and those that will not. For the most part I say screw the later group. I decided [not so long ago] that I was risking far more by staying in than I was by venturing out. So I strongly encourage everyone to get out there. If every TG/CD/TS started going out regularly, than sooner or later it would become so common place, the controversy would simply resolve itself. [hey, a girl can have her fantasy!!] |

So until my fantasy comes true there are a few things you should keep in mind before you first venture out en fem. Start with an establishment that you know to be trannie friendly. There seems to be a bar or club like this in most areas, but if not look into a gay or lesbian bar. If you need to, check it out in drab first. The important thing is to find the most accepting environment you can to ensure a positive first experience. Try to find a friend to go out with. While a second trannie is ideal, a good friend of any persuasion is the idea. If you really [really] don't have anyone, check the internet, start your own site, see my links. I guarantee there to be at least two trannies in almost every town. Go on a trip! Still stuck. Go to the nearest city and participate in a pride event. Spend a weekend in NYC or SanFran, Chicago, LA, Key West, Miami, London... you get the idea. |

And let's not forget Halloween! I always go fem for Halloween, and still there are people that haven't got a clue. Some of them are figuring it out, and when they ask, I tell them the truth. The photo to the right is from a friend's party last year [2002] I was the Belle of the Ball in my hot little outfit [Devil with the blue dress on!] It wasn't even my idea. A friend of ours who didn't even know of my TG suggested it. As there were a lot of lesbians at the party, I was very popular. If only I'd known about this when I was in college. Alas, I started going out too late. (I won best costume!) I have had no negative reactions form any Halloween parties, and it is a subtle way to ease into coming out. |

OK, here's one place you have to go. This is from Lisa Jackson's New Year's Eve Gig in NYC 2002/3. Check her site, check local listings. If she isn't coming to your town soon, find out where she is playing and go there. Or, go to your favorite club and find out why she is not playing there. The club and your local community will thank you. If all else fails; buy her CD, invite a friend over, open a bottle of wine and dance! |
| And of course...
You can always just charge out with pride and find a cause you believe in!
