Hello! Welcome to the download area for demonstration copies of Computronics ZIP software for Unix systems. ZIP is a file and directory compression utility fully compatible with PKZIP through version 2.04g. To use ZIP you will need three files: * This README file, which you can download as an ASCII file as /pub/zip/README * The ZIP manual, which is available in text form or as a ready to print Postscript file, or as an Acrobat PDF file. If you have the Acrobat Reader, use the file /pub/zip/zip_manual.pdf If you prefer a Postscript file, use the file: /pub/zip/zip_manual.ps If you need a text version of the manual, download the ASCII file /pub/zip/zip_manual.txt * You will also need the software itself. There are directories for each Unix platform. Find the one appropriate for your system and then look for the proper file in that directory. This will be a file named: zip_platform.cpio.Z. In this name, "platform" is the system type, such as hpux or aix. Thus for ZIP for hpux the proper file will be zip_hpux.cpio.Z Finally, before installing the software, you need to execute the command on your Unix system: zcat zip_platform.cpio.Z | cpio -icmvdu (Use the proper version and platform, as discussed above). At this time, you will have a directory called zip and you can install it as documented in the ZIP manual. Questions? Contact Computronics at "support@computronics.com" or phone 630/941-7767 or fax 630/941-7714. Note that you will need to get a setup code to enable the software. Contact Computronics for the code that you need when you get to the appropriate installation step. Thank you!
