2004 Zeisset Reunion

The August 14-15, 2004, Zeisset reunion was a unique event: two days of learning and sharing about our heritage. More than 100 people participated, most traveling more than 100 miles, many traveling more than a thousand miles.

The full program is shown below. We started Saturday morning with a special exhibit and presentation just for us at the Riley County Historical Society. The rest of Saturday’s program was headquartered at the Leonardville Community Center. Sunday we met in “Zeisset Hall” in the basement of the Leonardville United Methodist Church.

A number of family stayed at the Super 8 Motel in Manhattan, Kansas, where a block of rooms has been reserved.

We arranged with local caterers or eateries to provide food for Saturday noon, Saturday evening, and Sunday noon, and kept costs to a bare minimum–$5 per person per meal. Some participants brought pot luck Sunday noon to share

Each participant donated $5 or more to cover other costs (mailing, name tags, museum admission, bus costs, rental of facilities at the community center).

The form below offered opportunities to volunteer: bringing stories to tell, music to share, and old photos to scan.

The organizing committee included Paul Zeisset, Loretta Hoerman, Ray Zeisset, Lee Swart, and John Morris
