interpreter with a good deal of experience
in a number of technical areas including
chemistry, pharmaceuticals, medicine,
electronics, semiconductors, computers and telecommunications as well as patents.

and military documents from a variety of
sources as well as scientific and
technological related newspaper and
magazine articles.

Over 16 years experience translating
Japanese technical documents including
journal articles and abstracts, technical
magazine and newspaper articles and patents
in a number of fields including chemistry,
pharmaceuticals, electronics, semiconductors,
medicine, computers and telecommunications.

More than 23 years providing interpreting
and other linguistic support to U.S.
government and foreign government officials
and 12 years experience providing on-site
linguistic services for patent related cases
and technical matters.

Twelve years providing consulting services
related to competitive intelligence.

WORK HISTORY

2005 to Present

Adjunct Professor in the graduate program in
international relations at St. Mary's
University, San Antonio, Texas.

1994 to Present

Full-time free-lance translator and
interpreter.

1974 to 1994

U.S. Government: Assignments included eight
years in Japan attached to the U.S. Embassy
in Tokyo and three years in Taiwan. At both
of these locations, I was responsible for
providing linguistic support, including
interpreting, for U.S. officials visiting
local government counterparts and for
foreign officials visiting the U.S.

Last assigned to the Foreign Broadcast
Information Service where I was responsible
for coverage, translation and reporting of
Japanese science and technology,economics,
politics and defense information.

1972 to 1974

Probation officer with the Maryland
Department of Parole and Probation.

1962 to 1972

U.S. Naval Officer: Assignments included
three years in Japan with the Naval
Security Group as well as officer-in-charge
of detachments aboard submarines and naval
aircraft.

EDUCATION

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
from Brooklyn College - 1962.
Language training at Defense Language
Institute and FSI Language School (Taipei)
in Mandarin Chinese - 1967 and 1984-1985.
Language training at FSI Language School
and U.S. Embassy, Tokyo in Japanese -
1974-1976 (full-time), 1976-1982(part-time).
NRI computer course - 1981.
