MPS: Yuba City, CA, USA: Almost everyone is aware by now that the internet has spawned a new popular phenomenon called podcasting. A podcast is an MP3 sound file or video file left on the internet for listeners to download and play on their computers, iPods, or other players. They can be found by the thousands on popular websites such as Yahoo. Apple's iStore, Podcast Alley, and many blogs and websites. Except for a few they are free for the taking

These podcasts cover a multitude of subjects of which Technical, News, Entertainment, Sex, Politics, and Education are a few. Some are published daily, some weekly, some monthly, and some on schedules randomly selected by casting 16 sided dice.

One domain of podcasting this article explores is learning languages via podcasts. In the list below are the websites of current podcast which are also available from the podcast section of Apple's iTunes store. All are free, though a few also offer language related products on their website. These are all http://www. The url's do not include the three dashes nor the language name. The are added where the language is not obvious in the url.

  1. thefrenchpodclass.com
  2. learnitalianpod.com
  3. chinesepod.com/podcast
  4. rollingrs.com --- Spanish
  5. japanese101.com
  6. speakrussian.blogspot.com
  7. cliptip./de/Shop/index.php --- German

In addition to these there several English language as a second language podcasts available. A search of Yahoo, Apple's iTunes store, or Podcast Alley will reveal them and perhaps more as new podcasts are being created daily
