MPS: Yuba City, CA, USA: Security officials at Yuba City International Airport arrested four Muslim passengers before they boarded a flight to Washington, DC. The four men were carrying large quantities of Diet Coke and Mentos. Authorities said the quantity was large enough to blow the 747 airplane out of the sky
Security at the airport had been increased after information from the United Kingdom indicated that terrorists were adapting common liquids and household items to manufacture explosive devices. Diet Coke and Mentos when combined create a chemical reaction of an explosive nature.
Authorities explained that while the Diet Coke and Mentos would not explode in the manner of a traditional bomb. The four men were carrying a quantity sufficient enough to fill the airplane with a pressurized foam that would burst the seams of the fuselage causing the plane to crash.
Said Commander Jack Lance of the Yuba Air Security force, "We owe the British a big thank you for the heads up. Without their warning we would have thought nothing of these men carrying 182 gallons of Diet Coke and fifty seven 24 unit boxes of Mentos on board. We have to keep our guard up for anything suspicious. These wily devils have a way of adapting western technology to use against us".
