ABATE of Lancaster County Pennsylvania was formed in 1991.  We are a politically active chapter and are proud to have the support of all eight of our House members and one of the two Senators in our fight for freedom of choice.   While Lancaster County is better known for its "horse and buggy" ways and its large Amish population, our members have become known throughout the motorcycle rights community as politically active.  We have also led the way into the computer age for

ABATE of Pennsylvania.

On Tuesday, November 21, 2000, under the direction of Rep. Forcier, ABATE of Pa amended SB 1478 with a "helmet repeal" amendment.
You can view the vote tally on the amendment. In the newly released Lobbyist Report for 2000, you can see ABATE is looking forward to 2001.
In an article date Friday November 24, 2000, the Pittsburg Post-Gazette wrote "Heads Without Helmets" regarding our quest to modify the mandatory helmet law. Our ABATE State Coordinator (HDCowboy) responded with, what I believe is a very good explanation for my involvement with ABATE.

One of the founding members of our chapter, while a board member of the MRF, has gone on to represent the Northeast Region of the AMA.  Review Rick Gray's many contributions to motorcyclists at his website.

Anybody who has ever asked a fellow motorcyclist to join A.B.A.T.E. of Pennsylvania has been asked the question "What has ABATE ever done for me?" It's easy to think of A.B.A.T.E. as being "the anti-helmet group", but  A.B.A.T.E. of Pa is much more than just "the anti-helmet group". Click below on the link for a reminder of all the good works done and the progress made since A.B.A.T.E. of Pa was reincorporated as the Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education in 1983.

Did you ever wonder IF your motorcycle helmet passed the NHTSA Compliance Testing for Motorcycle Helmets under the mandatory federal standard "FMVSS 218"?  Well, I know you will be surprised to find out that few helmets pass.  For the testing years 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999 you can go to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ( NHTSA ) site for the cold hard facts.  Then if those facts don't send shivers down your back, be sure to visit the NHTSA
"Recall Database" where you may be surprised to find ....

THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A RECALL FOR FAILED MOTORCYCLE HELMETS!

All motorcyclists need to  read the latest on repairing you own motorcycle as viewed by the ENVIRNOMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY. Then follow thru and contact CHRISTIE TODD WHITMAN concerning RULE ANPRM A2000-01 on dirt bikes, ATVs and Motorcycles.

In December 1998 Lancaster County ABATE voted to make the Milagro House our charity of choice.

The first year of Florida's no-helmet law has gone by, and so far the results may be shocking: Motorcyclists in accidents were more likely to die wearing a helmet than not say Shawna Sundin a Times-Union staff writer.

While I believed myself to be a patriot, I now find out that Ted Nugent and I are
