Discussion of the Events that TNVS is involved in this next month were discussed. The first is the Alliance Festival. TNVS has been asked to be the Color/Honor Guard for that Event. The Festival takes place May 24th and 25th 2003 in Portland Tennessee. Members present at the meeting were asked to verify whether or not they would be attending the Festival and whether or not they would be able to participate.
We currently have a total of four Members who are firm on their plans to attend.
No votes were necessary to conclude this discussion.
Discussion then turned to the Memorial Day Ceremony at the National Cemetary in Nashville. The Program begins at 12 noon on May 26th at the National Cemetery in Nashville. Medicine River Singers and Shadow Wolf Singers have honored us with agreeing to Drum during the Program. A new area has been built for them to use during their time there. The Drums will have 45 minutes during that Program. This is the second year that we have participated in the Program and this is a very special way that TNVS has been able to assist in Honoring fallen Warriors.
Our Organization will pay for motel rooms for the two Drums to stay overnight Sunday May 25th in Portland TN. after the Alliance Festival that same weekend. Total cost for this should be approx. $350.00.
No votes were necessary to conclude this discussion.
Next order of business was to discuss a much needed fundraiser for our organization.
Discussion along these lines included a Cake Walk/Silent Auction as well as a Car Wash.
Members present felt that we could more easily provide a car wash. Tentative date for this is June 21st.
Location was discussed but not finalized. At least 3 members present said that they felt they could physically work a car wash. We will be contacting a business in Crossville to see if we can have permission to use their parking lot. This location is the Shell Station at Hwy 70 next to Kmart.
Cost to customers was discussed and members put forward the idea of holding a "For Donation" wash. Darren Cook felt that in his experience this was the best way to make funds overall.
