An angel with a broken wing
Floated down to earth
On a river of stardust
God is good she said
And I must take care of my babies
 
If I can't fly I'll swim, she said
And she turned into a swan
She floated on top of the water
Leaving ripples of silver moonlight
Behind in her wake
 
A swan with angel wings
And halo on top of her head
Reflecting in the water around her
So that she swam in a circle
Of golden light
 
I must be home at six she said
To make tea and cookies for my babies
And she waded ashore
Intent on her purpose
Immersed in love
 
Sometimes she dreamed of other angels
To keep her company
To fly and swim and play with
But there were no others around
She was alone
 
An angel with a broken wing
Floated down to earth
On a silver moonbeam
God is good she said
God is good
