this day is intoxicating
distant hills covered with fog
froth and surge of the sea
sparkling air
the sound of breakers and birdsong
drops of water fall on my head from
wind blown cypress above
the water is pale turquoise
two dogs romp on the beach
one black and one yellow
a woman bends over to inspect the kelp
each breath is exhilarating
my senses overflow
things like this are usually illegal
I almost didn't go out
on this foggy misty day
who needs Florida
when I have this

a warm sun offsets the fog and chilly wind
I pinch some wild sage
to release the sweet smell
such wilderness
right in the city I love
my home
blue iris and green moss
birds of different kinds
all coexist peacefully
unlike most of us
(with some squawking)
the first wave of wildflowers appears
a field of yellow mustard
white clover orange poppies
and birdsong!
even one bird has different songs to sing
two deer wade in the river upstream
it doesn't get any better than this
a tiny brown and white bird
holds on to a branch
looking left and right
as if waiting for someone
two black and white ducks
dive and resurface in another spot
decoys undoubtedly
shadows of seagulls
on the white foam
broken bits of abalone
sparkle in the sun
I drink in the sunshine
like an enzyme bath
and the day never ends
