a raven stole the sun one day
the moon began to mourn
tiny
pieces broke away
a thousand stars were born
drummers in the distance
pipers in the dell
a vigil til the sun
returns
and all is safe and well
silence in the darkness
frosty winter nights
people lie in
fallow fields
to watch the Northern Lights
color in the heavens
stories to be told
gingerbread and brandy
to keep away the cold
a raven stole the sun one day
a dark December morn
people
wait they dance and pray
for the first of Capricorn
lanterns in the woodland
branches covered white
shelter in
the evergreens
and cheery firelight
