one night the sky clouded over
and began glowing
from moonquakes perhaps
or pulsing radio waves
deep in space
overflowing like a waterfall
or a fountain
showering down
sparks of peace
on the skyline
like the final moment of sunset
or the corona of the sun
during an eclipse
everyone became tranquil
and forgot their animosity
towards each other
little was said
they all understood
we breathe the same air
walk the same earth
share the sun and moon
we all arise from nowhere
and then vanish
next morning the sun rose as usual
like nothing had happened
some people said it was a dream
some said it's impossible
it could never happen
some said where can we get more
and some never even knew
but some were just silent
the same silence they felt
the night before
filled with presence
no need to speak
never again the same
and this presence slowly passed
from one person to another
like a fog rolling in
and spread throughout the land
until everyone was still
and at peace
