The Blue Diamonds get paid
$$$

Bobby, Chuck, John,
Dennis and Brad hold a $50 bill. (not for long)
Notice the matching
striped T-shirts worn by three members of the group for the official photo
shoot?
Our official uniforms? This was our Moms idea the night before but she
forgot to wash her own sons.
The morning following our first triumphant
Labor Day gig, the Blue Diamonds went shopping. Joanne took this picture
in the Park Plaza parking lot using her brand new "Swinger" camera.
We probably wouldn't have all gone together that day but Mom needed to
get the extra large sized bill changed anyway so we all made a day of it.
The $50 was split we took off to spend the cash. I spent five of my ten
dollars that day and remember buying a $3 hand held battery operated fan
with paper like blades that you could stick your fingers in. Totally cool
and practical too. John and Brad came home broke. I think they even got
sick that night from eating too much candy.

This picture
was labeled by our proud manager Mom.
Here we're sitting on the back of Pop's
Ford Country Squire Station Wagon with fake wood side panels. We could
barely hold still for the picture but our manager told us "No picture,
no money". It was a beautiful Sunday morning so we spent the day checking
out MAD magazines and toys at Dick's Toy Circus and the Sav-On Drug Store.
Hot Wheels and red licorice? A small Petones Pizza for 65 cents. I hate
to sound cliché, but those were.... my good old days. As dusk approached
we just casually walked home through Lochman Fields with our booty, looking
for snakes and lizards along the way. That land is now the home of 1000
condo's plus.
