February!

It was very busy month throughout the January. We had a piano trio concert on January 28. We selected a piano trio Op. 50 by P. I. Tchaikovsky that I was long time hoping to play. Coincidentally, the day of performance was my birthday. After the concert, all of us with friends gathered in a restaurant of downtown Wilmington and had a nice party until late night.

Although it is still February, we have several days of warm temperature. (mid 70th degree F) Now I am starting worry about a pile of fire wood in my backyard. Spring is just around the corner. I will have 3 more Wilmington Symphony concerts and 5 other performance until FM live concert in May to conclude 2000-2001 concert season.

The Cape Fear Chamber Players

The purpose of this home page is to introduce our family music activities in Wilmington as well as the activities of the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra.

My name is Nobuaki Yamashita. Wife is Fumiko Yamashita. We have been living in Wilmington more than 16 years. I began violin lesson at 3 and was awarded second prize in the All Japan Student Music Competition, Western Japan Region at age 12. I played with the Kyoto University Symphony Orchestra and the Yokosuka Symphony Orchestra as concertmaster and soloist.

Fumiko began playing clarinet at age 12 and switched to oboe when she was 18. She played with the Kyoto University Symphony Orchestra and served as Principal Oboist for the Yokosuka Symphony Orchestra. Fumiko teaches woodwinds at the Wilmington Academy of Music and UNCW. She is also well known as an excellent woodwind repair technician. Call WSO to ask "Muse Woodwind Repair" if you have a problem with your instrument.

Since 1990, I have been the concertmaster of the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra and Fumiko is now WSO's Principal Oboist. We would like to invite you to WSO's 29th concert season. Here is the information!!
