A chamber music group, the Cape Fear Chamber Players was founded by four top players of The Wilmington Symphony Orchestra in 1991. Since then, this group appeared to many chamber concerts including First Presbyterian Church's Music Series. Besides these concert activities, we play for YOUR special occasions such as Wedding, Reception, and whatever you need fine music ranging from Christmas carols to serious string quartet. Nobuaki Yamashita was awarded the 2nd prize in the All-Japan Student Music Competition Western Region at the age of 11. He was concertmaster of the Kyoto University Symphony Orchestra while enrolled there in the study of metallurgy. He also served as concertmaster and soloist of the Yokosuka Symphony Orchestra until 1985 when moved to Wilmington. He is the concertmaster of the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Yamashita studied music with Hideo Saito who was well known as a teacher of Seiji Ozawa and through the Saito Memorial Concerts. Beverly Andrews grew up in Michigan and studied violin in Zurich, Switzerland. While a resident of Durham, Ms. Andrews was a founding member of I Solisti Duraham, a chamber trio which received a grant from Duke University. She has served as concertmistress of several orchestra. Douglas Vaughan, a native of Virginia, studied violin with Josef Gingold and at the EastmanSchool of Music. Formerly concertmaster of the Rareigh Symphony, he has played with the North Carolina Chamber Players and served as principal violist and concertmaster of the East Texas Symphony. A graduate of Hampden-Sydney College and Union Theological Seminary in Virginia, Dr. Vaughanis Paster of Wilmington's First Presbyterian Church. Kathy Meyer is a native of Atlanta. She was graduated from Furman University and did additional studies at Drake University and Chamber Music School of the University of Maine. She has been a member of the Atlanta Chamber Orchestra and the Des Moines, Greenville, Savannah and Chattanooga symphonies. Ms. Meyer currently serves as principal cellist with the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra.
