differences between old and new towers
| PSMT, PST vs. 3200,6400,9600 | newer packaging, 6 db quieter/lower crosstalk, better shielding
The DDV voices tend to "snap" at the end of sounds. Also, the frequency response tends to dip in the high end. Maybe the Multichannel Distributor eats the high end a little too much on these cards. There are upgrades to the Multichannel Distributor. I prefer the PSV voice cards for composition. Check out "Hacking" for unbiased analysis. |
| DtoD,Tapeless Studio vs. PostPro series | newer packaging, 6 db quieter/lower crosstalk, better shielding
The DDV voices on a DtoD with no Multichannel Distributor sound UNBELIEVABLE. Very hot, quiet, and accurate. Same cards as a 3200/6400/9600, but they do not have the same sonic results (maybe because of the lack of Multichannel Distributor). Check out "Hacking" for unbiased analysis. |
| Model B vs. Model C | polyphonic sampling, 1 ms timing accuracy |
| Model C vs. Model D | more expandable sequencer memory and poly memory, much faster |
