Great site.
Thank you.
Can you explain how poly voices and outputs work
on the 3200.
If you have a 32 voice system but 16 outputs how are
voices assigned to
these outputs. We have a Fairlight III that has
16 voices and 16 outputs,
when playing a chord, each note of the chord is sent
to a different output
channel. Is the Synclavier like this??
You can route any sound to any output just like a regular keyboard.
The Multichannel Distributer takes
care of this. You have 200 tracks. Each track has an instrument
(set of samples & FM/Additive
sounds). You define which track plays through which output (1
or 3 & 5 or 15 & 12, etc. If you have
several different samples from several different tracks requesting
Output 1 it just mixes them together in
real time.
How many poly voices can be played
out of one multi channel output, and what determines
this?
The maximum voice limit is 128 voices of playback whether Poly or FM.
Any number of voices can
play through any ouput. Totally dynamic stereo panning is offered
with Panning Voices.
Since we have not had the chance to do sample looping
on the Synclavier can
you describe how it is done. On the Fairlight
it can be cumbersome using
the graphics pen.
Scrub audio. "Mark Start". Scrub audio. "Mark End".
"Loop".
Is it really possible to access all of the 3200s functions
from the Mac
without having the Synclavier Kybd/controller.
Yes. The keyboard is just keys, buttons and a screen (essentially).
The software mimics, by way of a
literal picture of the keyboard on the screen of your Mac, all the
variouos button presses and display
functions. Clicking on a "soft button" is like actually pressing
the button. It is cumbersome to say the
least. The keyboard is really an integral part of the system
if speed is important.
Thanks for any help
No problem.
