Verses from the Ribhu Gita

trans. Petros

The thought "I am this body!" is merely of the mind,
the source of baseless fears;
when it is erased,
everything is found to be the reality of Truth,
the one Self supreme.

The thought "I am this body!" is the first ignorant thought,
the separator that separates one from the stream of life,
the knot of the heart that sprouts thoughts of existence and nonexistence;
when it is erased,
everything is found to be the reality of Truth,
the one Self supreme.

Ego is a thought;
God is a thought,
as is the world,
the mind,
action,
desire,
pain,
pleasure and sorrow
and all the other emotions and things thought of.

Living without fixed concepts?
That is the state of nonduality!
It is to live in and as the Self supreme;
it is pure wisdom undefiled before gods and mankind,
it is the very essence of freedom,
the natural state,
the reality of Truth,
the one Self supreme,
formless God.
Erase all thoughts (including these!) and there it Is,
the one Self supreme.

The body is a thought, too, like these.
Seeing, hearing, thinking, meditating --
all these are more concepts.
Even subtle techniques such as self-inquiry are concepts.
These thoughts literally create our world,
our idea of separate selves,
and all the Gods of mankind.
All that is, are these thoughts.
Yet everything is in fact the one Self supereme, nothing else.

The mind is the mind, not Truth.
It is like the horns of a rabbit.
But in fact there is no mind or concepts, and no world, and obviously then there can be no teacher or student.
There is only this.
