Now for THE news
of the century- Stockholm, Sweden: Stashed on a shelf, high in the sky, deep within the country's public television station
archives sat an unmarked tape, a very dusty unmarked tape for you see, the tape had not been touched for 35 years. It
was found purely through task, while transferring archived material from tape and film to digital. " They looked through the tape and found it had some Jimi Hendrix," spokeswoman Caterina
Wilson stated. "Then they saw it had a LOT of Jimi Hendrix." In fact, that unmarked
tape is a complete original recording of a Jimi Hendrix concert in Stockholm, 1969, on a tape thought to have been destroyed. "The entire concert, which is what makes this tape
unique." says Caterina. Jimi passed away in 1970. Go
Jimi,Go Jimi! partying on the job, are we? oops, we not
only forgot to name it, we forgot about it all together!
And now for a dose of reality- In the last
few years music stores have increased their DVD merchandising to offset what they believed was "sluggish" CD sales. As a result,
they lost more ground in music last year. The Recording Industry Association of America (that's the RIAA logo you keep
seeing) 2003 Consumer Profile survey shows record store CD purchases fell to 33.2% in 2003. That would be from 36.8% in 2002.
Meanwhile, music purchases grew in non-conventional outlets like electronic stores, Target type stores, even that gas station
in downtown LA. Yes, and it also grew online. In 2003, consumers made 5% of packaged music purchases from the internet. That
would be up from 3.4% in 2002, while digital downloads increased to 1.3% of the music market. That would be up from 0.5%
in 2002. Overall, music sales fell 6% last year, to 11.85 billion. Billion! 11 billion dollars! So we are not buying
enough music? Maybe they should forget the strategies and supply us with more quality music, not shoved down our earlobes
like a pushy salesman! People buy what they like, not what they are told to like-right? At the very least, those people who
are old enough to know. Poor, ignorant, suckered, youth!
Whew, percentages are exhausting, aren't they! When will the music industry
be happy?
MGM brings back The Rat Pack hipness of
it all with a Jan. 25, 2005 DVD release of that fav Kat, Mr. Sammy Davis Jr. They are shrink-wrapping it as we speak.
Look for it!
Speaking of the pack, do you remember when
Frank Sinatra's son was kidnapped? Probably not so rent "Stealing Sinatra," the comedy based true story. Centered
around the three inexperienced criminals who committed the crime, the movie features William H. Macy, David Arquette,
and is rated R. Did I mention it's a comedy!
But going back to music, the National Electronic
Dance Music Conference is holding a White House Music Conference Sept. 3-6, in Washington DC. The rave features
such ditties as a DJ Swamp-Led "turtablist seminar," a "women in the industry panel," plus some! Check it all
out at www.nedmc.com
And now for a sign of these ever changing
times...A New Jersey court recently ruled "Ladies night" giving door and bar discounts to women, is actually discrimination
based on sex. What! The ruling now outlaws having such nights in New Jersey, could the rest of the world be far off? seems
like someone had too much time on their hands to think!
Now for something completely off the warped
wall..."Hey there, Georgy Girl..." or should I say Barbie Doll! Barbie has crossed the fictional line into reality,
mass marketing her own line of clothing. No, not doll clothing, young girls clothing, like a famous designer- clothing! Featuring
to die for mini-skirts, crotchet tops, party dresses, and a TV commercial where a teen girl 'rock star' hops out of a limo,
meets her eager young fans, zeros in on the barbie model, checks out her skirt and exclaims something like, "I really like
your skirt!" How nice, but should a child who still plays with dolls be concerned about wearing mini skirts, being ogled by
boys, and going backstage to concerts? Where's the innocence anymore? Just look at what's become of Brittany!
Then I went to 7-11 where I saw a sticker
on a lady's SUV that read "Divorced Barbie - from all of Ken's sht!" So coincidentally funny-I just had to laugh!
And speaking of a good chuckle...Out of
pure portrayal dissatisfaction, two Aussie chicks have created a pierced, tattooed, dreadlocked version of what our Miss B.
would look like, if she was hip to the times and living in Hollywood! Introducing the new updated version of a fashion doll
truly portraying the young American woman - Feral Cheryl. Cheryl is handmade, covered in organic bubble wrap, and shipped
to you in a burlap sack on the back of a dolphin! Cheryl will set you back around $50.00, but well worth the S&H
costs! Miss Feral can be found "baking unusual cookies, studying Celtic mysticism," or just hangin' out and posing with her
friends. Join her posse-ettes at www.feralcheryl.com.au
And speaking of posing, have you seen those
guys who just seem to hang out along the wall of the Roxy...just hangin' out and looking cool...even during the show...? Faces
change throughout the years, but the lean coolly with one foot proped up against the wall stance seems to be an inherited
generational vice! But why are they there? Are they trying to be discovered, meet girls, or what? Some things never change
in 24 years!
Speaking of...where will YOU
be discovered hangin' this week...

Ginger Baker was rock's first superstar drummer and the most influential percussionist of the 1960s.
There were other drummers who were well-known to the public before him, including the Beatles' Ringo Starr and, in England
at the end of the 1950s, the Shadows' Tony Meehan, but they were famous primarily for the groups in which they played and
for attributes beyond their musicianship. Baker made his name entirely on his playing, initially as showcased in Cream, but
far transcending even that... Full Ginger Baker Biography

a member of the legendary Bones Brigade. He came into prominence as an entrepreneur, when he started REAL with fellow pro
Jim Thiebaud, but Tommy really surprised the world with his musical prowess. Guerrero’s previous albums - Loose Grooves

needed that rock roll element." At that point, Wachtel's clean, direct, rock guitar-playing had been 'putting an edge,' as
he as he phrased it, into the sound of soft-rock Los Angeles singer-songwriters for nearly a quarter of a century, and he
had even gotten to record with such legends as Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones.
A minor but interesting late-'60s British rock singer,
Terry Reid could have been a lot more famous if he hadn't turned down the slot of lead singer for the New Yardbirds in 1968...

My Last Sat Night Life
With
Ministry
and
The Thrill Kill Cult
Last Sat night at the HOB Sunset, were you there?
Standing room only, in fact more like - the best *Group Sex you never
had!
Last time I remember exchanging that much sweat with so many strangers, I was at the Circle Jerks
Golden Shower of Hits show at the Olympic, circa 1981! Or the DK's. Or any Ministry and TKK show in the past, did you go then?
And do you remember?

The house was packed; chicks in leather corsets and stilettos, the guys handsomely Goth. It was
nice to see guys dressed up and acting polite for a change! Everyone you know was there, or went Friday during the
Circle Jerks/GBH gig.

The last time I saw Al Jorgensen was in the 90's; I was at a party with ex Curly, before he managed
Anthrax. We were supposed to meet him in N.Y, but I didn't join the tour. So many memories...and running into so many friends
I had not seen in years! It still amazes me how the years fly by, YEARS! Al hasn't changed a bit and still has all of
it, plus some!
It was pure "Sex on Wheels"

The HOB seems to have become totally corporate in it's thinking and booking. The restaurant has
changed as well; even if you are important enough to get a booth, with the new clear barrier, you can't see a thing! The Foundation
Room has the barrier as well, and it has become so very hard to penetrate! Why? Hello-unless you want to drink, it's actually
very boring, don't they know?
Oh yes, the fiasco with the valet! If you were
there, that was Sher burning rubber! If you missed it, let's just say never fk with a race-car drivin' chick! So, did the
cops come?
We went to the afterparty at Club Sinstr; except
for the bands and Marilyn Manson being there, it was the usual crowd - don't you guys ever go anywhere else?
Actually Manson is very charming, he was wearing
his green/yellow demon contacts and black leather second skin. We were trying to picture what it would be like to...ya know,
does he take off his make-up, teeth and eyes before...? That could take HOURS! Does he have a make-up team waiting for him
at home? ; ) We don't really want to know!
So then we went to the after-party- Patty wife of Springsteen- after party in
the hills; a total B movie crowd but we didn't feel like stripping and sharing the pool, pleeze! so we left.
But I do have Al's pic!
As we took pictures of the fading moon and posed by the Stop
sign on the corner of my street, while we were parked in the red zone with the
motor running, who happens to cruise by but the Police! They had a girl in the back seat and did not stop,
but I wasn't worried about it - I live down the street!
The bands are on tour, hit Pollstar for the info:

What a strange week in the music industry!
I had an elaborate intro planned, but felt compelled to feed you some blabla instead, just because there's so much of
it. So where should we begin?...
Thursday 23rd: "You are a rude vial pig..." spewed
out of Elton John's mouth, directed at the herd of journalists greeting him upon his arrival at the Taiwan Airport.
"Get out of Taiwan" a journalist replied. Elton flew in to play a concert that night. Talk about singin' The blu-u-ues, aah, aah-ah, aaah-ha, so goodbye.....
And Madonna went to Israel, then tried to go to Egypt
and was refused entry because of where she had been. Last time she was turned down, it came from the Pope. Mad... but WHO
are YOU really???
But have you seen those Vegas Hard Rock Hotel billboards?
Targeting "drug users, cheating husbands, and alcoholics," the hotel infuriated all the right people. Those X rated billboards
were forced down and have been replaced with a cleaner, people friendlier version. If you look at the marketing side of it-
Hard Rock and sex, drugs, r&roll = now that's reality!
And speaking of stars...On Monday Sept 20th, Billy Joel received
a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in front of the Pantages Theatre.
And Miss Rosa Parks is suing the Outkast peeps; it seems her name
appears on an Outkast song, without her permission-oops!
Rosa Parks: My Story
It was on OutKast's debut album that the fledgling production team
Organized Noize began forging one of the most distinctive
production sounds in popular music in the '90s. Part hip-hop; part live, Southern-fried guitar licks and booty-thick bass
runs; and part lazy, early-'70s soul.
Speaking
of court...Somewhere in Asia sits the Glass Hoop Prison Camp. What makes this prison so special? A glass hoop is a musical
instrument emitting various keys of music with each spin. The prisoners are forced to 'spin' music all day, but must be in
sync and in tune. Those not in tune are punished by spinning double time! Talk about torture, I know my arms would totally
fall off!
So what about that Cat Stevens;
I had heard rumors, but who really knew? Did you know that the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens donated one half of the
proceeds from his last release to the 911 Fund? Oh baby baby, it's a wild world...
See-I told you it was a strange week in music...
Did anyone catch the internet music swapping debate
on Nightline (chn.7)? Some blabla along the lines of "music is intellectual property" so it should be free, but being that
it is entertainment, it should be charged. "Millions of people are loosing their jobs because of swapping-I don't believe
that." Those two debating reps were at each other's throats so much, had they been together in a club, someone
would have got their A kicked, and badly!
And speaking of Kicken' A...
KDAY 93.5 FM baby! KDAY radio station has been around since I was a budding teenager, playin' the best funk, blues, and soul.
The 90's saw the emergence of rap experimentation, and KDAY faded out. KDAY has survived and reemerged with a fresh
mix of way-old-and new school; songs that make you go hmmm, yeah I remember!
In the music business in the 1950's, it was a common practice for a white artist to cover a song
that had originally been recorded by a black artist. Many of Pat Boone's early recordings were such covers. Alan Freed made
a lot of enemies in the music business by refusing to play the white singers versions. Alan Freed is credited
with coining the term "rock and roll" to describe the rhythm-and-blues records he played, however that expression had been
around for years among the black musicians of the day. The phrase "rockin' and rollin'" referred to having sex, as in " we
were rockin' and rollin' ". Freed, however, attached the term to the music he played on his radio program and soon, his listeners
were using the phrase too.
On the artistic side
of life...
Asuka the Painting Chimp
lives in Tokyo,
and is a highly regarded artist of the fresco. She prefers paint
to oils, yellow and red being her fav colors. Asuka paints several pieces a day, all sold to the highest bidder for thousands!

Things happen in 3's, so true it seems but did you ever wonder where this
saying came from, and why in 3's? So did I, until I found the many answers, but that's for next week's bass...
This week we mourn the loss of three people; a President we may not have
agreed with at times, a musician we may not even know, and our beloved Ray Charles, who's last public appearance
was alongside Dionne Warwick and Clint Eastwood on April 30, when the city of LA designated the singer's studios, built 40
years ago in central Los Angeles, as a historic landmark.
We all know Ray Charles, but what do we really know about the man
who could be called music's God Daddy of our generation?
Did you know...
Ray Charles, the 73 year old Grammy-winning crooner who blended
gospel and blues died Thursday, June 10, at his Beverly Hills home surrounded by family and friends, said his spokesman
Jerry Digney.
Ray Charles Robinson was born Sept. 23, 1930, in Albany, Ga. His
father, Bailey Robinson, was a mechanic and a handyman, and his mother, Aretha, stacked boards in a sawmill. His family moved
to Gainesville, Fla., when Ray was just a baby.
"Talk about poor," Ray once said. "We were on the bottom
of the ladder."
When Ray was about five, he witnessed his brother drown in the
tub his mother used to do laundry in. His family struggled through poverty at the height of the Depression, Ray lost
his sight two years later. Glaucoma is mentioned as the cause, though Ray said nothing was ever diagnosed. He said
his mother never allowed him to wallow in pity.
"When the doctors told her that I was gradually losing my sight,
and that I wasn't going to get any better, she started helping me deal with it by showing me how to get around, how to find
things," Ray says in his autobiography. "That made it a little bit easier to deal with."
A true talent, Ray began dabbling in music at the age
of 3, encouraged by a cafe owner who played the piano. Ray's knowledge was basic, which prepared him for music classes
when he was sent away, heartbroken, to the state-supported St. Augustine School for the Deaf and the Blind.
"Learning to read music in Braille and play by ear helped me develop
a damn good memory," Ray said. "I can sit at my desk and write a whole arrangement in my head and never touch the piano.
.. There's no reason for it to come out any different than the way it sounds in my ZZZhead."
Ray had many musical early influences: Chopin and Sibelius,
Country and Western stars he heard on the Grand Ole Opry, the powerhouse Big Bands of Duke Ellington and Count Basie, Jazz
greats Art Tatum and Artie Shaw... He learned to read and write music in Braille, to score for big bands, and play instruments
- lots of them, including trumpet, clarinet, organ, alto sax, and the piano.
By the time Ray was 15, his parents had passed
and he had graduated from St. Augustine. Ray wound up playing gigs in black dance halls - the so-called "chitlin' circuit",
and exposed himself to the variety of music he loved, including Hillbilly, (he learned to yodel), before moving to Seattle.
Ray dropped his last name in deference to boxer Sugar Ray
Robinson, styled himself for a time after Nat "King" Cole, and formed a group that backed rhythm 'n' blues singer Ruth
Brown. It was in Seattle's red light district that Ray met a young Quincy Jones, showing the future producer and composer
how to write music. It was the beginning of a lifelong beautiful friendship.
Ray developed quickly in those early days. Atlantic Records
purchased his contract from Swingtime Records in 1952, and two years later Ray recorded "I Got a Woman," a raw mix of
Gospel and Rhythm 'n' Blues, inventing what was to become labeled Soul. Soon he was being called "The Genius" and Ray played
Carnegie Hall, and the Newport Jazz Festival.
Ray's first big hit was 1959's "What'd I Say," built from
a simple piano riff, with background moaning from the Raeletts. Some U.S. radio stations banned the song because of that
suggestive moaning, but Ray was on his path to stardom.
Between 1960 and 1966, Ray won nine of his twelve Grammy Awards,
including the best R&B recording three consecutive years ("Hit the Road Jack," "I Can't Stop Loving You" and "Busted").
Ray loved the ladies, and his womanizing was legendary. He
also struggled with a heroin addiction for nearly 20 years before quitting cold turkey in 1965, after he was arrested at the
Boston Airport. Yet with a defiant spirit and a grin, Ray released both "I Don't Need No Doctor" and "Let's
Go Get Stoned" in 1966. Ray later became reluctant to talk about his past drug use, fearing it could taint how people
thought of his music.
"I've known times where I've felt terrible, but once I get to
the stage and the band starts with the music, I don't know why but it's like you have pain and take an aspirin, and you don't
feel it no more," he once said."I was born with music inside me. That's the only explanation I know of," says Ray in
his 1978 autobiography, "Brother Ray." "Music was one of my parts ... Like my blood. It was a force already with me when I
arrived on the scene. It was a necessity for me, like food or water."
His versions of well known songs include "Makin' Whoopee" and
a stirring "America the Beautiful." Hoagy Carmichael and Stuart Gorrell wrote "Georgia on My Mind" in 1931, but it didn't
become Georgia's official state song until 1979, long after Charles had turned it into an American hit.
Veteran producer Jerry Wexler, who recorded "What'd I Say," says
he has worked with only three geniuses in the music business: Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, and Ray Charles.
"In each case they brought something new to the table," Wexler
told the San Jose Mercury News in 1994. Ray "had this blasphemous idea of taking gospel songs and putting the Devil's
words to them. ... He can take a gem from Tin Pan Alley or cut to the country, but he brings the same root to it, which is
Black American music."
Ray released "Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music,
Volumes 1 and 2" in the early '60s, a big switch from his gospel work. It included some of the biggest hits of his career-
"Born to Lose," "Take These Chains From My Heart (And Set Me Free)," and "I Can't Stop Loving You."
Ray and Martin Luther King Jr. were friends, and he once refused
to play to segregated audiences in South Africa, but politics really wasn't his thing.
Ray made it a point to explore each medium he took on. Country
sides were somewhat Pop-oriented, while fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and steel guitar were added to "Wish You Were Here Tonight,"
in the '80s. Quincy Jones wrote a special choral and orchestral work for Ray to perform with the Roanoke, Va., symphony.
Ray's last Grammy came in 1993 for "A Song for You." He
continued to tour, and treasured time to play chess. He was happiest playing music,
smiling, and swaying behind the piano, creating music for every moment of our lives. His appeal spanned generations as he
teamed with Willie Nelson, Chaka Khan, Eric Clapton, to name a few. Ray also appeared in several films, including
"The Blues Brothers." And remember those wonderful Pepsi "Uh- huh" themed commercials?
"The way I see it, we're actors, but musical ones," Ray told
The Associated Press. "We're doing it with notes, and lyrics with notes, telling a story. I can take an audience and get 'em
into a frenzy so they'll almost riot, and yet I can sit there so you can almost hear a pin drop."
"His sound was stunning - it was the Blues, it was R&B, it
was Gospel, it was Swing - it was all the stuff I was listening to before that but rolled into one amazing, soulful thing,"
singer Van Morrison was quoted in Rolling Stone magazine in April.
"Music's been around a long time, and there's going to be music
long after Ray Charles is dead," Ray told the Washington Post in 1983. "I just want to make my mark, leave something
musically good behind. If it's a big record, that's the frosting on the cake, but music's the main meal."

On another sad note:
He was Punk Rock before punk was punk rock,
guitarist Robert Quine died Saturday, June
5th, from a heroin o.d. He was 61 years old, but you're probably wondering who he was...
Robert Quine (left) on the cover of his 1984 album "Basic," with Fred Maher.

Robert was a renowned guitarist who played with Lou Reed,
Tom Waits, Marianne Faithfull, Mathew Sweet, and Lloyd Cole. In 2001, Universal released Quine's 1969 recording of The Velvet
Underground - The Bootleg Series Volume 1: The Quine Tapes -
Robert was despondent over the recent passing of his wife, he
perished in NYC.
"Robert was an original and innovative tyro of the vintage beast."
remembers Lou Reed.
Also Remembering:
Lu Leonard 1927 - 2004
You might remember actress Lu Leonard in Cagney & Lacey, Who's
the Boss, The Facts Of Life, Lavern & Shirley, and Married With Children, to name a few. She was also
the hit if the theatre production Women Behind Bars, which played the Roxy in 1983, stealing the show as the notorious
Matron. Leonard came from a Vaudeville family and grew up on tour. She appeared on Broadway five times and loved doing the
touring musical circuit. "She was always too smart for the room," said her best friend Joe Ross. Lu retired at the Motion
Picture Country Home in Woodland Hills, where she wondered what she was doing with all those older people! Above all, Lu had
talent, personality, and a love of entertaining us all. A memorial service will be announced this summer.
And a special mention to BooBoo Lupe, the Cat.
Although BooBoo was a cat, she had many human friends. She
would lounge around the patio area, or your front door, and would talk to you when she saw you. She was an orange
and white long hair, with an adventurous spirit. But she would always come when you called her. I sat for her once, and
she took full advantage of 'Aunt Kiki', staying out until 10:00pm every night! One night I came home to find
her sneaking down the stairs to the carport; "BooBoo, what are you doing, you know your not supposed to be down here,
you march right back up those stairs right now," I said to her. Busted-and she knew it! She listened at me, then dashed
up the stairs! BooBoo was around 17 years old, and lived a full and happy life. She leaves behind her human mom Sylvia,
and ChiChi, her sister. Miss BooBoo was loved by many, and will be missed by all who knew her. XO to you BooBoo,
the talking Cat with many human friends.

"Runnin' - Runnin'...for so many years with
so many faces, so many gigs held at so many places, so many fond memories of then, and you...
LA baby - we took the punk rock scene, made it, and set it 'Wild In
The Streets'!
Although "Punk" was actually commercialized by a rebellious, 'I Did It My Way'
Elvis Presley (influenced by jitterbug Jazz, down home Blues, and Hillbilly music,) who shook his thang' and upset the then
society moral standing...
It was those fab Beatles who famed the "New Wave" Mod look and punky sound, including Yoko's
bizarre musical expressionism influencing future experimental punk projects.
WHAT- did you think punk rock, like all sorts of music, magically
appeared clear out of the blue? Like all good things, it took ages to mature and perfect...
The early 1970's found very experimental psychedelic hippies, bored with the hip of the day
sounds, venturing forth to create and inspire visionary marketing geniuses like Bernie Rhodes and Malcolm McLaren - which
led to the early New York Punk Rock/New Wave movement that invaded Los Angeles County in the mid to late 70's...
At which point we took it over, evolutionizing the punk rock scene along with freedom
and tolerance of musical expressionism in general!
Don't get me started - Don't even get - oops, too late! So has it really been
24 years? Like most of us, we have known or seen your familiar face since 1980. Lately though, it seems to be more at memorial
services than get togethers.
Many things have changed since the days of our Gary Goldenvoice and fantastic venues youth
- greed has become a major entertainment factor, not to mention - so where have all the good bands gone? Natural talent today
is hard to come by, what with teenage girls dictating reality music shows. Oh, you can spot true talent you say? Test your
true talent trivia skills:
Which famed LA music pioneer has stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in all five categories
of Motion Pictures, Radio, Recording, Television, and Live Theatre?
Reco'nize - Gene Autry, baby!
Our very own Los Angeles cowboy, Gene redefined the term variety show, and embraced individualism
by becoming the world's favorite singing cowboy! Sadly Gene passed away in 1998, but his spirit sings on at the most inspirational
place which you have never been to but need to experience - the Gene Autry Museum of the American West, located next to the
LA Zoo. And might I add, the absolute best and hippest place to see a show, and to be seen! www.museumoftheamericanwest.org
Those wonderful people at the Autry National Center are dedicated to "connecting the past
to the present to inform our shared future."
LA, the great artistic metropolis - shoot it back to as late as 1888 and what do ya got -
the wild wild west baby! Keeping in this genre the Autry examines and presents, in their beautiful courtyard, the various
music scenes found in our western heritage including Tejano, traditional Western, Surf, Native American, Swing, Salsa, Cantors,
Chicano... music cultures, and then some!
"The L.A. Punk scene of the late 70's and early 80's was a unique cultural phenomenon of the
American West. The Autry National Center's mission is to explore the experiences and perceptions of the diverse peoples of
the American West."
And so with a smiling statue of Gene gazing upon the rejoicing masses, The Autry National
Center presented Wild In The Streets: L.A. Punk Music Scene
Featuring familiar faces both on and off stage: TSOL, Dickies, CH3, Raymond Pettibon, Alice
Bag, pro sk8boarder Kevin Staab, Dinah Cancer, K.C. Royer, our very own The Pope, peeps you haven't seen in years...which
prompted flashback tales morphing into a heavy Doug Moody (R.I.P.), Mystic Records discussion about how you have it all wrong,
trust me because I personally know the truth!
Along with its most gorgeous architecture and environment, the Autry grounds radiate
a truly peaceful and harmonious vibe, spreading a positive energy flow among the crowd - a far cry from those good old kick
your ass, cops, riot, evacuate now, negativity days of our insane Olympic Auditorium past!
It was really, really nice-every single person had a truly wonderful time! The Museum of the
American West brings out the best in people. Spend some time with Gene at his house; soak up the warmth and beauty which surrounds
you, and embrace your town's cultural heritage...
Share the love of our very own singing cowboy Gene Autry, if only for your childhood memories.
Gene Autry lives on!
And speaking of...been out enriching your life lately?...

So is it the "Crime
of the Century", or not?
Could it be the music industry has been leading us on, in the name of the
almighty music buck?
Could be! Everyone knows the all too familiar 'You're rippin'
me off thru downloading, so now I'm gonna' make you pay' song, along with the all too familiar ditty, 'You owe me thousands,
so you'd better get a second job at McDonald's', horrific B-side of the music industry's latest 'Court Judgement Against You'
release.
For the last few years the music industry has been boo-hoo'ing tears about
lost sales and a lagging market, which according to them has been all your fault! But have they pulled a total Enron on us?
Read on peeps, and judge it for yourselves...
Mr. Felix Oberholzer-Gee (yes, his real name) of Harvard Business School, and Koleman
Strumf of University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill have conducted a study on just how much damage has been done to the
music industry from downloading music.
According to Mr. Felix and Mr. Koleman's recently released study - surprisingly
not much, certainly not as much as the industry claims! Their study concludes downloading has had very little effect
on those CD sales:
"While downloads occur on a vast scale, most users are likely individuals
who would not have bought the album even in the absence of file sharing," states the report. Mr. Felix explains it to
us like this:
"Say I offer you a free flight to Florida, how likely is it that you will go to
Florida? It is very likely, because the price is free." Felix maintains that you probably would not be going to Florida
if it was not offered to you for free, and the same goes for free download versus actually having to purchase the music. Although
file sharing attracts consumers, "it doesn't mean that these people would buy CD's at $18," he states.
On another recent report from Nielsen SoundScan, CD sales are up 10.6% this year
as compared to the same time last year. But what does it all really mean to you and me?
Could it be there are better artists, better music, better songs with a better
beat? Or have we all become fearful of those intimidating music industry attorneys, threatening to take our future food
away from our future children's mouths by means of a we mean it man, judgement? Ages ago, my mom lent her Al Martino
record to her friend who wanted to record it on cassette. She did, and gave the record back. Does this mean my mama broke
the law? My - stick to the rules and the law - MAMA, breaking the law?
YES- you, your mama, even your Toto too! The music industry plays no favorites
and is still trying to criminalize file sharing.
Remember that song featuring the lyrics " I've
got friends in all the high places", or is it "right places"? It seems both versions would apply as a draft
bill is currently circulating through the House Judiciary Committee of Congress, allowing prosecutors to seek up to ten years
in prison for chronic illegal down-loaders - that's 10 Years in jail peeps! Is there even a song out there worthy of
serving 10 years for?
I would say yes, I would be willing to serve time for all the music beginning
from the 1700's, and dating to the late 70's, well make that the mid 80's! But that's just me, and my silly love for
all the mothers of today's music!
So-if my friend burns me a personal CD featuring my fav songs from various artists, are we both breaking the
law?
Have we always known swapping was illegal, or was the crime shtick invented purely
out of greed? But then again, corporate truth has always been stranger than artist fiction.
And speaking of stranger than fiction:
Yamaha has introduced Vocaloid, a new program that will sing for you! Merely type
in the lyrics; it uses sampled human voices that are broken down and reconstructed to your liking. Word up to our fav Willy
Hung- now you can SheBang like any man or woman singer you want to sound like! Could this program be the real
next American Idol? But what will Simon, and the music industry say? www.vocaloid.com
And speaking of American idols:
There's Fuji apples, and there is your garden variety rock. Then there is The Fuji
Rock Festival slated for July 30, in Japan. Three glorious days of headliners include The Chemical Brothers and The Pixies,
among others. 5,000 "early bird" tickets have since been sold and unless you have an all access pass, I won't even imagine
the porta potty lines! www.fujirockfestival.com
And on the totally nutra-sweet side of life:
Sprite has remixed itself in the totally hip, now, and wow, marketing department
with it's latest release - a new "ReMix" flava, "Berryclear." Keeping with the music industry tradition of 'you used to be
hot but now your not so we are dropping you from the label,' Sprite has dropped its original tropical flavor in its quest
to rule the modern pop world. You might want to buy a bottle of the soon to be extinct tropical standard to add to your 'when I
was young' collection, if only for your future. After all, Social Security might not be around for very much longer, and someday
that very bottle is going to be worth something to a fanatical antique collector, somewhere.
So, been out collecting any priceless memories lately?...

With the passing of Marlon Brando, who could be considered The Godfather
of cinema, I know what you're thinking - things happen in 3's, I wonder who's next?
So do I, but did you ever stop to think why do things happen in 3's, and where
the concept came from?
The Significance Of The Three's
Three is a very ancient and popular number with deep significance. In Christian faith the number three is
symbolized by the Holy Trinity ( Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer,) combined to symbolize wholeness.
Three appears many times in the Torah, and 523 times in Scripture.
Various phases of life happen in three's:
Three Stages of Life:
-
Birth, Life, Death
-
Birth, Death, Rebirth of soul
-
Body, Mind, Spirit, encompassing the
-
Physical, Mental, and Spiritual make up of human beings.
Three Stages of Time:
Three Categories of Existence:
Three Main Virtues:
In the Chinese culture, three is a perfect number. For the Mayan, three represents the sacred number
of the woman. Ancient Egyptians believed three to be the number of the Cosmos. Buddhist regard three as the Triple
Gem, Three Jewels which encompass:
-
The Buddha (enlightened)
-
The Dhamma (teachings)
-
The Sangha (followers)
There are three primary colors - red, yellow, blue, with which all colors are created.
The three Divine Principles:
The three Universe Matter:
And there are three keys of music:
which speaking of- don't forget your keys, or to take keys away to save your friend's life, when
you go out this week . . .
