...she got run over by a DAMNED OLD BLOG!!!

Fun, games, and spontaneous hugging

So yesterday was Thursday and you know what that means: GAMING!

I arrived at the gaming store at 5:50 and proceeded to sit for forty-five minutes while no one from our gaming group showed up. Finally in nervous desperation I bought some LOTR boosters I wasn't sure I could afford. Still no Sting or Swarms but I did get Aragorn's Bow, whee! Right into my deck it went.

The guys finally showed, including my boyfriend who decided he wanted to build a new deck. So I was forced to sit there sleepily (for some reason I always get tired on Thursdays, go figure) while he pulled Dwarfs and Sauron orcs out of his binder. Something about that combination was causing my inner master gamer to panic, but I couldn't remember what it did... until we started playing. It's a discard AND corruption deck! EVIL!

Lucky for me I was playing with Moria orcs in my Shadow hand, so my deck was bigger than normal. My fellowship had Frodo, Merry, Boromir, Aragorn, and Sam. Sam can exert to remove burdens from Frodo, and Aragorn can heal Sam. Likely would have lost if I didn't have Sam in the fellowship, since Roger had THAT ONE CARD out that allows you to win if your opponent has five burdens and no cards in their draw deck.

He did indeed deck me, but I only had four burdens at the time, and lucky for me he decked me when it was my Shadow phase. I was able to use Host of Thousands and Underdeeps to throw seven orcs at him, and hey, he only had five guys in his fellowship so I got to assign the last two extra guys who of course went on Frodo to overwhelm him and I WON! WOOHOO! Wasn't sure I would, since there was all that corruption and discarding going on. He got me to discard my brand new Aragorn's Bow (*waaah*) AND my Balrog! But I did get to throw my Cave Troll at him when he was at the bridge, which was fun because it was the first time I played the Troll, whee!

My deck's not half-bad. Cool.

And then TsuKata arrived! WOOHOO! She had to work late so she didn't think she would be able to come. Very happy to see her. Chatted for a bit, shopped for a bit, decided to play some Ricochet Robot, which I tied for second in by only one chit but that's okay, I have so much fun playing that one I don't care if I win or lose.

I was all for going home then, since it was starting to get late, but Roger wanted to play this new game he bought. I jokingly bitched about being forced to play against my while; he bitched about my bitching; I spontaneously hugged him (rather viciously, according to TsuKata). And then I spontaneously gave TsuKata a vicious hug. And then I sat down and played Roger's game and KICKED THEIR ASSES! HA HA HA!

Gloating? Me? Have no idea what you're talking about.

The evening left in a wonderfully bouncy, happy, viciously-hugging mood, which has carried over to today and caused me to feel bloggy, whee! Hence the long update after a much too long silence. And speaking about silence...

Slow to learn

About three weeks ago I was under a lot of stress due to some tension in one of my friendships. For several days I walked around upset and anxious, until my wonderful boyfriend convinced me that I needed to talk to my friend. So I called her up even though I didn't know what to say and wasn't really sure I wanted to call, and we talked and we cried and we got everything out and then things were okay again.

AHA! If I just talk about things, then everything will be okay. Communication is the key to a happy life. I had learned an important lesson.

And then I got silent and refused to speak to anyone.

It wasn't deliberate. It just happened. I still find it easiest to put on a happy face and go through life blissfully unaware of just how hard it can be to live, all the while ignoring the fact that I'm really not that happy after all. Because a life that's not lived isn't worth living.

So I need to start talking again. And I need to start living. No more hiding for me.

And I AM going to write something during lunch today, dammit! The mall can wait until after work.

Sticky white stuff on my palms

Tobey Maguire. drool.

Spiderman wears red.

Red looks good on me.

Attack of the drones

Roger Ebert gives SW:AOTC two stars.

Ha. Not surprised. Thought the trailers looked silly.

Been trying to get together a Star Wars party for opening weekend, not because I was excited to see the movie but because it's fun to go to movie events such as this one in a group. Unfortunately everyone already has plans for that weekend. Not too upset, though; after this bad review I'm not sure I want to see the movie at all.

Big ol' grin on my face

Gotta love Fridays. It's sunny, the workday is flying by, I blogged, and I have my camera with me for some after-work shooting. Ah, happiness! Off to lunch and writing.
