Maester Lupo Nero falls into this category. When I was having problems with blogging, he offered to write one for me! It's not really necessary now since I found my blogging voice again yesterday (whee!) but he's such a sweetheart that I'm posting his blog entry anyway. Enjoy!
xnera has taken me up on my offer to write an entry for her as she's currently suffering from writer's blog-ck.
I couldn't decide whether to write a me-blog or a(n) xnera-blog so I settled on writing a sort of cross between the two ... a Lupo-nera-blog, if you will. Then reality set in and I just wrote a boring old me-blog.
Gah -- I hate mornings. Threw three different shoes at my alarm clock but, as is to be expected from me being in the US Air Force, I hit the light switch instead. I would have thrown more but I ran out of non-lethal armament (come to think of it my shoes aren't exactly non-lethal -- at least by smell). Besides, the clock is in arm's reach anyway, so I just hit the snooze button every seven minutes until my tagalong Brit called at 0630 for his obligatory "You comin' to pick me up this mornin' you lazy git?" whinge. I hit the snooze button a couple more times in spite before dragging myself off to shower and headed out the door around 0650 or so.
Got to work at 0730 and immediately headed out for a doppio cappuccino and cioccolatta cornetto where I ran into the rest of my shop. We sat and chatted 'til about 0815. Tried to hit on a rather attractive young female that works upstairs in my building, but the cappuccino had burned my tongue and I believe what I said was "Ooooh ... pretty ... ooooh" instead of "Ciao, bella, come stai?". The only thing in the bar that was hotter than her was the vapor trail behind her as she fled. Typical Wednesday.
Spent most of the day spinning my wheels on two big problems: One: why the hell is VB dying when I try to add an ActiveX component, when it works for one of the other guys in my office and Two: Who should I draft with my first round pick on Saturday -- A-Rod or RJ? Scored a set of speakers for the attractive female in the previous paragraph --- with a classic 'romantic comedy' moment for good measure. Sounds cheesy, yes, but while we were looking around for the power cord for her speakers we both bent down to pick something up and smacked our heads together. Why is it that when I meet a woman I'm not attracted to I can be smoooove and wield IT with a style and subtlety YDub would be proud of -- but if I am interested in the woman I forget what IT even is and become a complete clumsy idiot? (Note: IT is a copyright of YW -- for more information send away for his book, only $19.95).
At 1600 I went to the John with Jim. I mean ... I went to the Gym with John. Pushed heavy things around for about an hour and fifteen minutes and then completely destroyed all that fine work with three beers and a meatball sub from Subway. And I wonder why with all the weightlifting I'm doing I can't lose any weight .... sheeesh.

As for other recent events in the life of LN -- saw LOTR:FOTR again this past weekend. My Brit friend hadn't seen it yet so we piled his wife and kids into the car and off we went. He and I spent the entire movie making VSD comments:
"Still not King"
"Go us"
"Stupid orcs"
"Bye-bye scary elf lady"
"Think am getting spot ... V. bad"
He about fell out of his chair on Gimli's "Nobody tosses a dwarf!" line -- as dwarf-tossing V. popular Down Under where the movie was filmed.
----------------------
Bad news on the gaming front, though. Aforementioned (repeatedly) Brit is leaving for a three month forward deployment (don't get shot, Ed -- not very probable as you are a V. small target -- but I can only take care of your wife for so long while you're gone), another of the gamers in my group is off training for the next two months (he'll still be Chaotic Stupid when he gets back, though), and a third is 'out indefinitely' (which means his wife will kill him if he comes home at 2 am from gaming again) so my D&D game is down to one out of four players. I think they're just tired of me killing their characters, myself. Either that or they're tired of waiting two weeks for their XPs. Whatever their reasons, I'm without a D&D group for three months. Guess I'll have to throw myself into the local community theatre that recently got started up. Not a bad idea ...

Nice Ireland photos, xnera -- hope I have the opportunity to go there someday. I'm thinking of buying a digital camera so I can get some photos from here to post. There's not much to photograph, though -- unless you count Rome, Pompeii, Mt. Vesuvius, Castel Dell'Ovo, Maschio Angioino, the Isle of Capri, St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican City, Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Colosseum, Arco Felice, Borghese Villa, Herculaneum, Naples ... and one or two other quaint little places that are a little farther away like Venice or Milan.
So now it's your turn for a blog entry. I tried to write one for your in your perspective but it came across too phony -- like the guy with the really bad poetry that Raven talked about in the poetry thread on tBBtW.
I would leave you with a thought, but ...
LN, you should think about starting a blog of your own... this was awesome!
To the chalkboard with you!
Repeat after me: I will not keep xnera up until the wee hours of the morning on a school night. I understand that even though xnera is a night person, she needs her sleep. I acknowledge that if xnera does not get enough sleep, she gets an upset tummy, becomes cranky, and is late to work. Since I want xnera to be healthy, happy, and punctual, I will let her go to bed at a decent hour.
Thank you very much.
A Game of Ice and Fire
I am still all bouncy at the news that there is going to be an ASOIAF CCG! I've already decided that I simply MUST have the Jon Snow card, and the Ghost card, and Arya and Nymeria and definitely Tyrion and Dany, and ooo, do you think Dany will be in Dothraki or Quartheen garb? Hopefully they'll make all these cards... Don't really care to have Rob, he's an idiot anyway, but Jon... *swoon*
And the Starks must beat the Lannisters. They must. Unless it's Sansa and Catelyn against Tyrion and Jaime, then I'd want the Lannisters to win.
And to those of you reading my blog who haven't read ASOIAF yet... WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? Go out and get it NOW! It's by George R. R. Martin and the first book is A Game of Thrones. Trust me, you will NOT be disappointed.
Oh boy oh boy oh boy IT'S THURSDAY!
Only eight hours until gaming, at which time I will be happily opening my new Mines of Moria boosters, WHEE!
The Earl Collective ganged up on me pretty bad late Monday night. Ended up playing hooky from work on Tuesday, just because. First time I ever did that. Slept the morning away and generally bummed around.
Then I talked to some friends (via AIM, email, and the good, old-fashioned telephone), and by the end of the night I was feeling much, much better. Hooray for friends!
Feeling all perky today (no, not that kind of perky... I swear, some of you have one-track minds). For one thing, I got up at 6:27, which is three minutes before my second alarm clock rings. Go me! And all morning I've been humming "Jose Cuervo", which is a fun song that I will never, ever experience for myself but which always puts me in a good mood. And I fiddled with my finances during lunch, so I'm feeling all competent and on top of things now. WHEE!
Besides, how can I not be happy when the Mines of Moria boosters come out today? We are having a box-opening party at gaming tomorrow, WHEE!
Well, that's it for now. It's probably smart for me to ease back into this blogging thing. Wouldn't want to overexert myself or anything. But yay! I'm blogging again! WHEE!
Q: Why did the chicken read the blog? A: To get to the other site!
Apologies to Douglas Adams for borrowing his title. It seemed to fit, though.
What can I say; it's been a rough week. I really, really needed my paper journal this past week. I did try to blog a few times, but it never felt right. I'm still not sure if it's right, but I felt I had to post something since y'all have been so very patiently waiting. Hopefully I'll have a blog entry of more substance tomorrow.
