Forbidden Donut Web Page Update

September 22, 2000

Forbidden Donut is not reading submissions. Forbidden Donut is on hiatus while we decide whether or not to continue publication. No submissions are being read, no letters are being opened. If and when Forbidden Donut resumes publication notice will be posted here.

The JonCon 2000 page has been added, though the main page has yet to link to it. You can get there by clicking here.

A note on the publication itself - we're now looking for an early summer release for the next issue, hopefully in mid to late May.

I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, what they hell are you doing? What ever happened to all those promises, those assurances, those publication dates and, most of all, what the bloody screaming hell happened to that story I sent you?

Well, let me explain. We have your story. We have not thrown it out, nor desecrated it in any manner. Should it turn out we do not want your story for publication, we will notify you. Unfortunately, your story is keeping the company of several hundred other stories, all neatly sitting in a large box waiting anxiously for some attention. We will get to them, it just may not be terribly soon or terribly timely.

So, why no new issue?

Lots of reasons, but mostly due to the simple fact that we don't make any money from the publication. We lose money, every issue. We realize that this is the nature of our passion and don't expect to get rich (though there are vague dreams of Forbidden Donut paying for itself in some distant, fantastic future), but because of this we cannot put the kind of time and energy into it that we would like. We have other things to do, many of them more important than the magazine. I don't mean to say our deplorable lack of organization is forgiven by this statemtent, nor that it it is unavoidable. It just is.

We have not given up, and have not stopped. So feel free, as always, to e-mail me. Whether to rant and complain, or to offer suggestions on the publication or the site, we welcome your comments.
