Scott, a senior at Dorsey, is ranked number one in the long jump by "Track & Field News." TFN also ranked Scott in their top ten "Men's Athlete of the Year" award. Scott also participates in the 200 meters where he ran a personal best of 21.29 in 1995, the 11th fastest prep mark in the country last year.
Scott competed and won events last year at the Arcadia, Golden West and USA Track & Field Junior Olympics, according to Track & Field News.
Other prep athletes competing include Julia Stamps of Santa Rosa in the mile, Obea Moore of Muir in the relays and 800 meters, Michael Granville of Bell Gardens in the 500 yards and Angela Williams of Chino High School in the sprints.
More than 2,000 athletes from over 400 Southland schools will compete in the high school section of the L.A. Invitational. The open portion of the meet features Olympic stars and hopefuls like Randy Barnes, John Godina, Marc Crear, Suzy Favor Hamilton and many others.
