"Moore has the potential, if he keeps working hard and concentrating, to be a future Olympic gold medalist and world record holder, " stated 1995 California Track Coach of the Year Clyde Turner of Muir High, Pasadena.
Muir track is also coached by legendary track and football coach Jim Brownfield. The Mustangs have long been one of the dominant high school track programs in the nation.
Moore ran under 47 seconds 16 times during 1995. He also posted a best of 1:49.16 for 800-meters, and is the top returning 400-meter runner in the country. Moore helped lead Muir to a convincing victory at the California State Track & Field Championships.
What is also amazing about Moore is his versatility, as he is nationally ranked in everything from the 200-meters to the 800-meters. He has a shot at making the U.S. Olympic team in the 400 for the Atlanta Games as a high school junior.
"I know I have to run in the 43's to make the team," Moore said, "but I think I can do it." The 400 world record is 43.29 and was set by Butch Reynolds in 1989.
