SYNOPSIS:

When Amy sees the run down deserted old Victorian house that her father left her, she is bewildered.  Why would he leave this old house to her.  Amy thinks her father gave her the old house because he felt that way about her - of no value.
But Jack Murphy, a young architect, tells Amy the house is worth saving and would be worth a lot more if restored.  Together, they begin to work on the old house, and as funds dwindle, Aunt Tillie comes forward to help with the needed work.
The magical fountain they find, as well as the treasures in the old trunks in the attic, bring love to Amy and Jack, and surprise after surprise.  From their wedding day, up to the day Aunt Tillie reveals why Amy received the old house, the secret is revealed.
A story of love, determination, inner strength and a bond with family and history, The Lewis House Saga, takes us from the turn of the century to present day in the lives of the Lewis family.  From the fantasy of the magical fountain to the glorious restoration and celebration of the house as it is returned to its natural beauty, leaves the reader with wanting more of the Lewis family saga.

Chapter 2 (excerpt)

Amy was looking forward to the weekend.  She hadn't been to the house, but had talked to the two landscaping companies and had selected one.  Murphy's Landscaping would do the mowing, and had advised her, they would also trim the trees and shrubbery, all included in the quote.  She knew it would be an expense, but also knew it had to be done.
She was taking a broom and some trash bags, cleaning supplies and a large package of paper towels.  She had put on an old pair of jeans and an old t-shirt.  She loaded the car and headed towards the house.
She had been surprised but pleased when she drove up the driveway.  The grass had been cut and looked as if it had been raked and hauled off.  The Spirea shrubs were trimmed, giving the driveway a wider and much neater look.  She could even see the house from the street now, even though it still was ugly, it had changed.  The front yard was neatly trimmed and she had noticed there were several areas that had been rock walled to form individual flower beds.  There were several large old trees and they had been trimmed back as well.
She was anxious to get out to really look at everything.  She had also remembered to bring flashlights, so could check into the small outbuilding and the room that was boarded up.
She stood on the porch and looked over the newly manicured lawn.  Even though the flower beds were void of flowers, she was imagining how it must have looked to someone who had been seated on the porch.
She went inside and soon had all the items she had brought inside with her.  She looked around, not knowing where to start and decided the best place would be the sweeping.  it wasn't long until she had run outside.  The dust was flying everywhere.  She wasn't sure how she was ever going to get it cleaned up.
While she waited for the dust to settle, she walked around to the backyard.  Her gasp of surprise and the unexpected vista that greeted her was made in a gasp of delight.  The yard had been mowed and trimmed.  The statue she had seen stood in the middle of a large circle and as she approached, she realized it had been a pool and the statue was a large fountain.  She looked around finding the entire edge of theyard had been a solid wall of flower beds as the retaining walls were still visible, separating the gardens from the yard.  The trees had been trimmed and she imagined that someone had spent a lot of time here years ago.
She walked towards the fountain and around it, looking it over.  She wondered if it still worked.  She couldn't see anything that would turn it on, nor any water lines, but then they were probably hidden.  She noticed the interior of the pool had been laid with tiny tiles to make a pattern of fish and water plants.  It looked as if it was still in good condition, as she hadn't seen any cracks or holes.
She looked at the back of the house and saw the old porch.  It was a large porch, but didn't wrap around the corner like the front, and she noticed the house extended farther into the yard on one side.  That must be the room with the door that was ready to fall off.   She would see if she could see inside.  The windows were to high, but she could see it was a large room and looking upward noticed the ceilings were graduated and then a large dome with artwork on them she was anxious to get inside and see this room.
