| Downy Woodpecker climbing down tree, |

|
| Downward Spiral 5146 |
This is a mosaic of eight shots taken over the course of about 30 seconds, while this Downey Woodpecker hopped down the
tree to her reward of sunflower seeds at the feeder. Woodpeckers tend to fly in and land high on a tree near the feeding
site, then jerk their way down toward the ground in a pseudo-sinusoid fashion. A quick flight from near ground level
takes them to the food source.
