Westminster Golf 2009

Scoring

This season we are adopting a new format. Teams will compete simulataneously in both individual stroke (net) and match play, in addition to the team match play. There will be a total of 10 points at stake every week.

  • 2 points A player's net score
  • 2 points A player's match play
  • 2 points B player's net score
  • 2 points B player's match play
  • 2 points for Team match play

Stroke Play

2 points will be awarded to the lowest net score, that is your total score minus your handicap,

Match Play

2 points will be awarded to the player who wins the most holes. The player with the lower net score on a hole (your score minus any handicap strokes on that hole) wins that hole.

Team Match Play

2 points will be awarded to the team that wins the most holes. Who wins a hole is calulated in the same manner as for individual match play, but the scores of both the A and B players are added together, as well as the handicaps.

Handicap distribution

Handicap strokes are uniformly distributed across all the holes, starting with the most difficult hole, as indicated by the hole's handicap number, where the lowest number is the most difficult. For example, if your handicap is 3, you get one stroke on each of the first, second, and third most difficult holes.

Tie breakers

Here are the tie breaker rules.
  1. Head to head match
  2. Head to head points, the sum of the points for each team for all the matches they played against each other.
  3. Head to head team holes won
  4. Head to head individual holes won
  5. Team holes won
For example teams 5 and 8 are tied with 114 points

Team 5 Team 8
Match 1 2 8
Match 2 10 0
Total Points 12 8

We apply tie breaker #1 and each team won a match during the season. Then we apply tie breaker #2, and team 5 scored more points during their matches, so they woud get third place.
