What's New
25 Feb 1999

Been a while since any updates, hasn't it?  Sorry...I've been in an Advanced Networking Technology Systems class here, and it's taken up a good chunk of my time.  I found I'd rather spend much of my free time being brain dead than writing HTML...hehehehe.

Anyway, I've added two new pages, PSA and Splash, as well as a new pic in the Pics area.  PSA is my Public Service Announcement for drivers, and Splash is a preview of my next site design.  :)  PSA was done because I've finally had enough with moronic drivers.  I hope you enjoy both of them.

More modifications to the guestbook.  Got rid of "character checking" in the Name field altogether.  Considering posting the "Declaration of Independence of Cyberspace" here...if you're actually reading this (one of my 3 devoted readers), drop me a line and tell me what you think.

I'm also making a new midi from the "Armageddon" soundtrack.  It's called "Animal Crackers" by Aerosmith.  I've been pretty happy with the feedback so far.  One more track to write and it'll be done, so expect it anytime now.

Modified the javascript on the Sign Guestbook page to allow you to put a last name in the Name field.  Thanks to Tim Dixon for telling me about this.

The new pages are finally done!  Woo-hoo!  Don't get me wrong, I loved making the new graphics, but the phrase, "Man, another sword..." kept popping into my head.  I actually ran out of swords; but, as they say, the pen is mightier than the sword.  I like to think the work paid off, though.

Not too much new on the content...added a new midi (one of mine), a Files section...and of course, hacked myself a new Guestbook.  You know what, I kind of like the fact that E-link doesn't offer a guestbook, but an "appendto" cgi-script, because this way, my guestbook is totally configurable to what I want.  Only thing I would like is for it to be oldest date last, instead of first, but that can't be helped.  Also, there's some new pictures in the "Pictures" section (formerly Friends and Family, but that sounded way too much like an MCI ad).  I'd say it took around 2 weeks to do the redesign, from start to finish (first graphic to last html rewrite).

A coupla more pics will be up after I find my other pack of pics.

NOTE: The "Sign Guestbook" Page has a TON of comments in it for you E-link members out there who want to know how I did my guestbook.  It's not too hard to do, as long as you think the whole thing thru first as far as your html setup on the actual guestbook itself.  Have fun!

Guten Tag, meinen Damen und Herren!  The prodigal son returns.  What a cool trip to Germany that was.  I mean, the job really sucked at times, but hey....Germany!  You can't beat the beer there.  And, to top it all off, I was promoted while I was there!  So I now hold the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSgt), USAF.  Definately cool.  But now I'm back, a little wiser and with a few more scars than I had when I left...hehehehe.  And what do I find when I come back?  More of AT&T's new policy changes!  Yay, I live for those!  The 56k access that was supposed to be done by June 1st has now been pushed back to 1st quarter 1999.  Plus, you're now limited to 150 hours a month.  Well, that's it.  Enough is enough.  AT&T can now officially kiss my skinny white ass.  That's all I have to say about that.  :)

Upcoming changes:

Thinking about renaming this place to Wolf's Castle, and redoing the main graphic in the from page.  There seems to be alot of Wolf's Dens around.  Reckon I ought to change my banner now, too.  Plus, pictures from Germany are forthcoming also.  Other'n that, ain't shit goin' on.  :)

21 May 1998

Added the Guestbook Customization(now defunct... --Gus) page.  This shows you how to make AT&T's guestbook look more like the rest of the pages you designed.  Redesigned main page a little.

\begin gripe
You know, I'm a little miffed at AT&T for not telling new PWP owners that the old page counters can still be used.  Especially considering the old ones look 10 times better than the ones they tell you to use.  That just burns my ass something fierce.  That, and having to modify the guestbook like I did.  There should be no need for it.  See Scott Chen's page for more info on the old counters and how to use them.

Changed counters.  Found out there's more to them then AT&T is telling us new PWP owners.  There's more, but will get more in depth later.

16 May 1998 - 3:00am

Ok, had a wild hair and decided to finally redo the menubar as I wanted it.  Plus I put counters on all the main pages.  Memo for record: Don't go out and get fubar'd drunk and think you can write HTML properly.  I was lucky......this time.

Friends and Family pages are now up!  Gave up on the frames thing.  Would've been too much maintenance to do both frames and non-frames, especially considering I want to do a German version of these pages for my cousins in Germany.

11 May 1998

Pretty good size update today.  Instead of finishing the F&F page, I implemented stylesheets, just to make life easier in the long run.  Left some of the old tags in, just so it looks halfway decent in NS 3.0.  Looks like I'll be going to Germany around the 26th of May, so I need to finish these up pretty quick.  :)

4 May 1998

Parents left today after a 5 day visit.  Was nice seeing them again.  Created new email graphic on contact page, updated personal page , and finished most of the links page.  Just kinda puttered out.  Also made up a banner just cause everyone has one and I don't...hehehehe.  That can be found here.  Will add more later.

26 April 1998

Pages are coming up slowly but surely.  All that's left to do are the Friends and Family and Links pages.  And then I get to have the fun of putting frames in all this...ugh, more graphics...hehehehe.

Almost a year later, I find out that AT&T has upped the 2 meg limit to 5 megs, and made the PWP free for all users now, instead of charging them $1.95 a month for 2 megs (which, IMHO, was a ripoff anyway). So I have taken a renewed interest in making my presence known on the Web. Not much has changed since last year, but will try to make more updates happen throughout the weekend and the following week.

9 Jun 1997

Started working on my homepage offline using HotDog and Netscape. I quit using HotDog and opted for Notepad instead because, well, I wasn't learning anything. That's half the reason why I chose to make a homepage in the first place. Created most of the images I'll use today and began basic non-frames layout.

I'd planned on making some really high intensity (everyone likes flashy homepages...hehehe) jpgs to use, but there were three things to keep in mind:

  • 2 meg limitation. Hi-res pics can be huge.
  • Hi-res pics can take a long time to download. Nobody likes to wait.
  • Not everyone uses 24-bit color mode. There are still some who use 256 colors.

For best viewing, however, I would recommend a screen resolution of 800x600 and 24-bit color mode. Also, I don't have MSIE at all, so I have no idea how these pages will look using it. Whether or not I plan to support it, I haven't decided. Most likely not.
