ML is a genuine friend and very committed coach. She immediately develops rapport by asking questions which allow an initial assessment and a direction to proceed without feeling pushy or invasive. She is a very good listener that can glean important points and distill long answers to their essence. This ability helps clarify client thoughts and feelings quickly and can lead to defining moments in short periods of time. She is very good at assisting in the commitment process without feeling like a drill sergeant. Although there is an obvious agenda, greater health and wellness, she manages to guide, educate and coach in a very natural way that does not feel regimented or forced.

ML makes suggestions and listens to see if an approach is effective and believed. If a particular approach receives push back, she attempts a different method or direction rather than attempting to drive the idea directly. I find her coaching methods to be effective and comfortable.

ML is obviously well educated and knowledgeable in her field. Often the trick is how to convey the knowledge without appearing to be condescending or finger wagging. She has mastered this area. Her position appears as one of concern and sharing with an old very good friend.

M.L. is an awesome coach. She helped me see that my weight is just a number
and that it's much more important to do the little things everyday and live
a healthy lifestyle. Once you get in the habit of doing that, the weight
does come off.

M.L. is very knowledgeable in her field. She has sent me sample menus,
recipes, ideas for weight training exercises as well as a trekking exercises
routine for me to try out. She is in the process of developing a water
exercise routine for me as well. She is a very good listener and has
tailored my program to me, so that it's personal. She helps you set your
realistic goals for the week and gives you LOTS of encouragement to help you
keep them. If you need extra encouragement, you can contact her and she is
always ready to help.

She is helping me to change my life for the better. My weight is coming
off and I am developing lots of great habits to keep it off. I have so much
more energy than I did when I started working with her and I'm getting so
much stronger!! When I first started, I could not do one push-up and now I
can do 24!!

"Having ML as my wellness coach has truly changed my life. I have received so much encouragement from her that I see her as my own personal cheerleader standing behind me and cheering me on to a better future. She does not focus on negative things like losing weight,dieting, failed attempts made over and over again, or the latest fad. ML focuses on positive behavior, setting goals, overcoming obstacles, and success!!

She is my biggest fan, celebrating my successes at every turn, and sharing in my victories. And she is a wealth of knowledge in health issues, physical fitness, and even in the kitchen!!

ML has totally changed my way of thinking about physical fitness. Exercising is no longer a dreaded chore to be endured, but a wonderful, peaceful time of rejuvenating my mind and my body. It is a sanctuary for me to get away from my busy schedule and spend time with myself and my thoughts. When I am on my treadmill, I am able to sort out my priorities, and really focus on all the things that are really important to me. I take that time to be thankful for all the blessings that I have, no matter what is going on in my life. And the next thing I know, I am done. I have reached my workout goal for the day without even being aware of doing it. And my mind has been transformed at the same time. I feel so much healthier when my body and my mind are strengthened together. And if I skip a workout, I feel like a part of me is missing. I get antsy to get back to it. This is a HUGE change for me, definitely for the better.

ML, also, helps me to be proactive with my exercising. If I start to get bored with something, she helps me think of alternatives that would pique my interest. There are so many different things to do that involve exercise that I could spend the rest of my life doing each and every one. My family has gotten in on the action, too. We take walks together, go hiking, bike riding, or skating. It's a great time for the whole family. We are able to bond and to get our exercise all at the same time. Thanks to ML, we have a better family relationship!!

We eat so much healthier now thanks to ML. Many more fresh vegetables adorn our plates at dinnertime. And baked fish is a weekly staple. My kids no longer turn their noses up at the sight of healthy food because I have some really good recipes that everyone likes. ML has been so helpful with food suggestions and recipe ideas. And whenever I am at a loss for a new vegetable, she always comes up with one that I had not thought of and can tell me exactly how to cook it. And as a mother, I can always use help in the kitchen!!

ML focuses on the really important questions. Like "how do you feel when you accomplish a goal that you set for yourself?" Or "how does it feel to leave the fast food behind and know that you are eating more nutritious food that is so good for your body?" Or "how do you feel when you look in the mirror and see that your arms and legs firming up again and your pants are feeling loose?" When people focus on their weight, they are focusing on the wrong thing. The weight is not the problem. The problem is whether you are happy with the way you look. You could be overweight and still look great. I know there is at least one governor out there that may be considered overweight, but he sure does look good!! Of course, his weight is all in his muscles. And that's where our weight should be. So the purpose is not to lose weight, but to redistribute your weight so that it is attractive to you. When I step on the scales, I see that I have not lost much weight. But when I look in the mirror, I see a body that is 5 years younger than the one I saw several months ago. I not only look younger and stronger, but I feel younger and stronger, too. Now I am working on the next 5 years younger. These changes can only be attributed to God and ML. I thank God everyday for sending her to help me. And I thank ML for turning my life around and setting me on the right path.

I think the best thing about ML is that she challenges me without pressuring me. She did not ask me to give up any of the foods that I enjoy eating. She helped me to incorporate more fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, and seafood into my meals slowly. And the next thing I know, I am loving the healthy food and do not even desire the junk food. How cool is that!! And my family is being transformed as well. Soon ALL of the junk food will be gone. ML, also, challenges me with exercising but does not pressure me to do things that I do not want to do. She waits for me to decide when I want to take it to the next step. And therein lies my success. I WANT to make the change--I am READY to make the change. And I am doing it one step at a time with ML's wonderful coaching, encouragement, and patience. "WOW! I had no idea how helpful that one session with ML would turn out to be. I gained tremendous insight into my motivations for living a healthy lifestyle and just how much I value being healthy and active. I'd lost a considerable amount of weight two years ago but was struggling with the day to day maintenance. I felt on the verge of losing the battle. Now I have a voice in my head that reminds me when I'm not eating according to my values.

I've been reading nutrition and weight-loss books for years... studying the subject closely. Very rarely, anymore, do I come across anything really new.
