So, you ask ... just who are you?

My name is William R. Pace, but you can just call me Bill. Professionally I use the moniker Wm. R. Pace because there's another William Pace in the business who was Associate Producer on movies like A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN and has produced several movies for TNT Cable. I am not he ... but, then again, he's not me either, so it evens out.

And what do you do Bill?

As my online "handle" of ScripTeach suggests, one of the things I do is teach screenwriting. Several years ago some guy in the LA TIMES wrote, "Those who can't do, teach. Those who can't do or teach, teach screenwriting."

Hah-hah-hah. I'm dying of laughter, really. It's just inside where you can't see it.

Well, to prove him wrong, I am a working screenwriter with four produced films to my credit, one of which I directed myself, plus over half a dozen TV episodes. If you'd like in-depth info on me and my screenwriting and filmmaking experience, here is a link to my bio:

So see, I both teach and "do", which is the best of both worlds as far as I'm concerned. I've always wanted to both "do" and teach. One compliments the other, and I have grown immensely in both pursuits because of their synergy, to use an oft abused word.

Okay, okay -- so you can write and teach. But what can you do for me?

I can help you make your script better. Honestly. I've taught screenwriting for almost fifteen years and worked with over a hundred private clients, writers who have gone on to get agents, sell their scripts and make their movies. Never send out a first draft of a script. Writing is rewriting, that's the sad but true maxim, and to rewrite effectively it is often helpful to get objective, supportive and constructive feedback. And that's what I specialize in.

If you want to skip that and go straight to the "fun" stuff, you'll find the links I've set up below useful.

There is a mind-boggling array of "stuff" out there on the 'Net for the screenwriter. I haven't found anything that makes the simple act of putting your butt down in the chair and writing any easier, but I have located a host of resources that make the experience of being a struggling screenwriter more bearable. Instead of merely cataloguing the links, I attempt to supply a "critique" of the site. Some of the things you'll find are:

If you want to write me for more info, please do so. I check my mail often and promise to respond as promptly as possible. Be sure to tell me you are writing me from my home page so I know from whence you came.
