interactive chapter".
Winner of the 2005 SBE National Award for greatest member
growth-large

URGENT NEWS: Chapter 5 is
abandoning Broadcast.net's web services (web page hosting & e-mail list
services). We will
be procuring a new web host provider shortly and our own domain name (for easy browsing). Sit tight and stay tuned.
With regards to the
mailing list-I was able to recreate a list from those who are currently
SBE members based on the membership list provided by Scott Jones in
Indianapolis. Those of you who have not provided SBE National an accurate e-mail address, or
those who subscribed to the SBE-ATL list who are not members, are
encouraged to sign up to the new list:
http://www.freelists.org/list/sbe-atlanta and fill in the items
at the bottom of that page.
Chapter 5 regrets the problems this has caused you, but the business
factors are completely beyond our control.
Bill Magliocco-Chief Cook, Bottle Washer, Webmaster and Chairman of
chapter 5.

Through the assistance of Kenny Miller,
Senior Account Manager at CTG, we will have a presentation on NewTek's
"Tricaster" suite of products.
(Fron NewTek's web site) The process of creating live,
network-style television can be very
costly and require massive amounts of expensive equipment and a large
crew of people. TriCaster™ changes all of that. In one lightweight,
portable system (small enough to fit in a backpack), you have all of
the tools, including live
virtual sets on select models, required to produce, live stream,
broadcast, and project your show. There
is a reason that TriCaster is the standard in portable live production
for major players like Fox Sports, MTV, VH1, NBA D-League and the NHL.
Its small footprint makes it possible to broadcast from anywhere and
TriCaster is flexible enough to allow you to deliver live productions
on your own or with a team. No matter where your live broadcast plans
take you; there is a NewTek TriCaster perfect for you.
In particular, our meeting will focus on using the
TriCaster product in RADIO environment. Nationally syndicated
radio hosts such as Steve Harvey, Kidd Kraddick and Leo LaPorte are
airing their shows with live video content on the web using the
TriCaster product line. It is also being used by CBS Radio, Clear
Channel and ESPN Radio in a number of markets.
(editor's comments) I don't need to tell anyone who reads
this
website that the traditional broadcasting business is in need of new
ways to generate revenue. The traditional radio broadcast
business is under siege like never before; don't simply blame your
problems on the weak economy. Many consumers spend over a third
of their workday on the web and over 40% of radio stations are now
streaming their product on line. It is time to stop thinking in a
parochial manner and think like a multi-platform MEDIA provider.
As they say, "adapt or die".
Pizza dinner will be sponsored by NewTek.

meeting can be found at http://home.earthlink.net/~wmagliocco/sbe5/lastmeeting.html

"Optimal Conversion of SD, Film, and International Programs to
High Quality HD"
Presented by: John Shike, Vice President of Marketing and Channel
Management at Snell
High Definition television can provide spectacular images for the
viewer, but programs upconverted from standard definition digital or
analog sources, pulled from the archives, converted from overseas 50Hz
based material, or originally shot on film often fail to meet viewer's
expectations. In fact, the increased picture resolution, larger picture
size, and special characteristics of today's flat screen LCD and plasma
displays as a whole magnify the problems of programs not originated in
HD, resulting in pictures that are less appealing than what viewers
experienced with analog TV sets. The solution is in the conversion
processes available and we will discuss the necessary steps for optimal
results. Snell is the company formed from the recent merger of Pro-Bel
and Snell & Wilcox. Mr. Shike has over 25 years of experience in
the TV/entertainment equipment industry. He has held positions in
product management, sales, marketing, and business development at
companies including CMX, Aurora, Chyron, and Spruce Technologies.
