Wendy's Poetry

Voyager

Across the vastness, of deepest space.

I tread the stars with an eager pace.

My loyalty lies within shielded walls.

Fevered and yearning for Earth, she calls.

Hands racing fervently across computer plates.

Each key I caress marks tomorrows fate.

Every away mission takes on a new plot,

So similar to home, but I know it is not.

Crew becomes family, our journey's begun.

Never to know when we'll glance at our Sun.

Hours, weeks...months of perpetual night,

Only seemingly broken by a holodeck sight.

A sunrise on a hill at home,

Captured within our captive dome.

But yet, each moment I trek the stars,

I know these beauties are truly ours.

And perchance to make a friend today,

And learn of something to light the gray.

We unite and battle the bleakest night.

And head for home, her beacon bright.
