In
A King’s Name
Born into secretive greatness,
To protect the royal line.
Gilraen brought the child to Rivendell,
Knowing he’d find protection with Elvish kind.
A mother’s heart would know such risk,
So she bequeathed the name Estel.
He would not be known as Aragorn,
But as a hope the men foretell.
In his youth he took another name,
As he journeyed far to lands of men.
The eagle of the star alit the dawn,
As Thorongil, the gem.
Swiftly crossing paths, and touching,
Many lives along the way.
He took a role as ranger,
And found the name of Strider here by day.
As companion to the quest,
He vowed his life and blade to cause.
To protect the ring and it’s bearer,
Until transgressions known, become what was.
But Strider was thought an unfitting name.
When he rushed 45 leagues by land.
In search of his youngest companions,
In the grasp of evil’s hand.
Faramir felt the name too poor,
For the son of a kingly line.
Wingfoot I name you, befitting it is.
Of swiftness, might, and hope in this time.
And as one of men, he took his throne.
Malevolence fell and destroyed was the ring.
And hope prevailed in Middle Earth,
In the name of Aragorn Elessar…King.
