A Father's Secret

Heaven holds a gentle secret,
What lies within a father’s heart?
Behind the strong exterior,
Shines a love we’re all a part.

God needed somewhere to place this gift;
A father’s heart seemed sized just right.
But it was so brilliant that it blinds us
When we try to peer inside.

For we’re not to know the secret,
He shares with these special men.
The ones we know as father,
That hold our hopes in one strong hand.

And though those dreams are ours to keep,
There’s something much more grand.
A loving place inside a heart,
That we’ll never understand.
