What is Via de Cristo?

Via de Cristo is a Spanish phrase meaning "Way of Christ."

Via de Cristo is a highly structured, three day weekend designed to strengthen and renew the faith of Christian people and bring them to a new awareness of living in God's grace.   It is a combined effort of lay people and clergy toward renewal of the church.   Click here for more details on what it’s all about.

Although Via de Cristo is a renewal weekend associated with the Lutheran church, persons from any Christian denomination can attend.  People who attend a weekend for the first time are referred to as “Pilgrims” in recognition of the mutual faith journey.  Pilgrims are sponsored by someone who has already been on a similar weekend.

If you would like more information about attending a Via de Cristo weekend, contact any of the following to find out more:

Lay Director:  Mary Beth Greene

Assistant Lay Director:  Ed Skellham

If you are a Cursillista who has already been on a Via de Cristo or Closer Walk weekend, you can sponsor someone else to attend a weekend.

You are invited to attend Sponsorship Training to prepare yourself for this important role.

How Are Organizational Decisions Determined?

The governing body of the Damascus Road Via de Cristo movement is a group called Secretariat.

There are openings on the Secretariat Board and various committees.  Please pray about serving, and contact us to volunteer for one of these positions.

If you have previously attended a weekend, and are interested in serving on a future Via de Cristo team, please complete the following application and submit it to your Ultreya Leader.  The application will be considered by the next Rector/Rectora as they pray about who should serve on team.
