What is VIA de CRISTO?

VIA de CRISTO is a Spanish phrase meaning "Way of Christ."

VIA de CRISTO is a highly structured, three day weekend designed to strengthen and renew the faith of Christian people and bring them to a new awareness of living in God's grace.   It is a combined effort of lay people and clergy toward renewal of the church.

Although Via de Cristo is a renewal weekend associated with the Lutheran church, persons from any Christian denomination can attend.  If you would like more information about attending a Via de Cristo weekend, contact any of the following to find out more:

Lay Director:  Duane Moore

Webspinner:  Rebecca Willsey

Pilgrim Applications:  Barb Golley (as of 27 SEP 2016, accepting applications for the Women’s Weekend)

If you are a Cursillista who has already been on a Via de Cristo or Walk to Emmaus/Closer Walk weekend, you can sponsor someone else to attend a weekend.

You are invited to attend Sponsorship Training to prepare yourself for this important role.

Watch for future training dates to be announced on this webpage.

How Are Organizational Decisions Determined?

The governing body of the Damascus Road Via de Cristo movement is a group called the Secretariat.  Meetings start at 7 pm and are held on the 2nd Friday of each month at the Eastwood Baptist Church, 3212 James Street, Syracuse, NY.  Two people from each Ultreya are designated representatives and can cast votes, but all Cursillistas are welcome to attend and provide input.

There are some openings on Secretariat to be filled.  Please pray about serving, and contact Duane Moore to volunteer for one of these positions.

If you have previously attended a weekend, and are interested in serving on a future Via de Cristo team, please complete the following application and submit it to your Ultreya Leader.  The application will be considered by the next Rector/Rectora as they pray about who should serve on team.
