Descendants of Patrick MULLINS I
Generation No. 1
1. Patrick2 MULLINS I (Richard1) died Aft. 1767. He married Mary (Mullins). Notes for Patrick MULLINS I: 01/14/2001 1756 Earl Granville gives 325 acres in Rowan County to Patrick Mullens on March 15, 1756. This acreage is on both sides of the Dan River. 1757 Book 2 of Rowan County, NC, pg. 217 recorded on October 15 1757: Patrick Mullings Sr. and wife Mary sell 120 acres on south side of Dan River for £10 to Enoch Conoly. Witnessed by Thomas Mullin and Noble Lad. This tells us that there was a Patrick Mullins Jr. 1763 Rowan County deed book 5 pg. 361, on May 12 1763 Enoch Conly sells 120 acres to John Cox for £20. Deed book 6, pg. 494 on Oct. 10, 1767 John Cox sells 120 acres £20 to William Mullings of Rowan Co., NC. 1767 Rowan Co, NC deed book 6, pg 492. Patrick Mullings - no wife- sells Moses Damron (both of Rowan Co.) for £35 60 acres on north side of Dan River. Wit: William Mullings. 1796 Patrick Mullins sold 200 acres on Jacobs Cr. To Robert Lomax of Guilford Co. (Also pgs 21 & 47 in 1788), Rockingham County. This is most likely Patrick Jr.

Children of Patrick MULLINS and Mary (Mullins) are: 2 i. Mary3 MULLINS, died Aft. 1843 in NC. She married (1) Richard JACKS. She married (2) Mason TRIPLETT. Notes for Mary MULLINS: 04/17/2000 Email from Forrest and Rick: Yes, Flower Mullins was in Sullivan Co in the 1780s, I will have to find the year that I first found him on the tax rolls. From that time period he ended up in Hawkins Co which was split out of Sullivan.William Mullins ended up in the Ashe county area of NC. William and Flower had a sister named Mary who married Mason Triplett in Guilford, he died and she remarried Richard Jacks and was alive in about 1843 in NC. Also some of the Braggs did marry Mullins in Hawkins. I believe there was a Pierpoint in the Hawkins area, as a neighbor of the Mullins.. I will relook at these things over the weekend and try and provide some definative answers after i look at ;my files. Yes I have seen Flowers and William record,, said I believe it said their papers were burned in their fathers house. I do have a book on Guilford with some of the militia lists in it, i know that William and Flower were listed on the muster roll in March 1779. The only other reference in the book is to Patrick Mullin relating to confiscated estates of Tories.. For some reason, I remember a deed record for headrights in SC across the river from GA for either the Swifts or Mullins, I will really have to dig this weekned. Just seems to add more unansered questions.. ha.. rick Will Pearson wrote: Forrest: Thanks for the analysis. I cannot be as sure as you are about Tennessee YET. John and Elizabeth's last deed transaction (that I have found- in NC was in Feb. 1780 in Guilford County where he sold land to Flower Swift. The first deed transaction I have found in GA was on June 30, 1786 when he bought 287 1/2 acres on the south side of Tugaloo River. Now what happened in those years between? Hopefully we can find some other information. Yes he was in GA in 1786-1805 when we believe he died. Were those deeds in TN written in GA and "mailed" to Sullivan County, TN. Or could they have been carried by a relative? How did Thomas Bragg (the buyer of 50 acres in 1790) find John Mullins in Franklin County, GA? Could the key to this be the movement of Flower Mullins, the Rev. War Pensioner? Perhaps, if he ended up in Sullivan County! I will find their original documents and let you know, Will -----Original Message----- From: FORREST [mailto:forrestm@bluebonnet.net] Sent: Monday, April 17, 2000 8:58 AM To: Will Pearson Subject: Re: Mullins of Franklin County, GA Will, I don't think that John Mullins of Franklin Co., GA ever lived in TN. That he was granted land in what was at that time, NC, is an indication that he served in the Revol War. I had other ancestors from NC who were also granted land in what eventually became TN and it was on the basis of their Revol War service. Rick Kinsala sent: "Sullivan Co Tn Deed Bk2 Pg465 John Mullins of Franklin Co GA sells 50 Acres to Thomas Bragg on Dec 25 1790. Land was 50Acres , Fork of Horse Creek. Witnesses: William Swift, John Bryars?, T Pairpoint" ======= What really makes me believe that John never lived in TN is the fact that William Swift was a witness to the deed. William was a JP in Franklin Co., GA 1799, 1800 and 1803. I think John sold his TN land via long distance. That John Bryars? may be John Bryant, a neighbor of John Mullins, and the T. Pairpoint may be Philpot, another neighbor of Johns. It is highly unlikely that all these folks just happened to live in TN with John in 1790 (when he is found on the Franklin Co., GA Tax List) then moved with him to GA. Consider this: Franklin Co. GA Deed Book N, pg 135, 136. Deed dated 20 Jan 1800, rec 30 Sep 1800 from John Swift to Flower Swift, both of aforesaid. In cons of 700 Spanish mill dollars conveys 90 ac in Franklin on Tugalo Riv, being part of a grant to John Bryant, adj Mullins and Philpot. Wit: William Swift, J.P. John being granted land in Sullivan Co, same as Flower Mullins (maybe William also, though he may have never left NC) makes me want to believe that they all served in the Revol War, maybe in the same unit. But was this John Sr. or Jr? I figure John Sr. would have been up around 50 years old around the time he would have served in the War--if he did. Certainly not beyond the realm of possibility. It sure would be nice to have some Guilford Co., NC militia lists. Anybody ever see William's application (R7483) or Flower's (S1557)? They might give a clue as to John's possible service--lead us to Militia Captains and lists. Talk later.....Bo
