Descendants of William WALTON I

Generation No. 1

1. William1 WALTON I

Children of William WALTON I are:

2 i. Frances2 WALTON, born 1734 in New Kent County, Virginia. She married Henry MULLINS December 29, 1762 in St. James Northam Parish, Goochland, Virginia; born 1744 in St. James Northam Parish, Goochland, Virginia; died Bef. 1798 in Probably Franklin County, GA.

Notes for Henry MULLINS:

01/20/2001

1787 State Census for Wilkes County, NC, in Capt. Nathaniel Vannoy's District list Henry Mulins, 1 male over 21, 3 males under 21, and 3 females. Also he was taxed for 50 acres. Also living in this same district were John Sparcks (sic), and William Sparks; George Sparkes was in another district, and William Mullens in yet another. 1790 Federal Census for Wilkes County, NC, does not list any families of John Sparks, William Sparks or Henry Mullins. It is possible that this is not our Henry. This Henry might have moved to Rockcastle, KY in 1803, and he was supposed to have married a Mary Tony in 1760 in Goochland, VA.

1802 Franklin County records, p. 1372 Power of Attorney, 9 Nov. 1802 by Killis Walton, Robert Walton, Geo. Walton, Joseph Martin & w. Mary, all of Franklin Co. to our brother, Wm. Walker Walton, to empower the latter to recover from Thomas & Conely Mullins, administrator of estates of Henry and John Mullins, dec’d. in Gugeland (Goochland) Co., Va. Claimants said they were heirs at law of Henry and John Mullins, referring to them as our said Uncle and Cousin. Wit: Jeremiah Sparks, J.P., Rec. 12 Nov. 1802. The Walton's are obviously relatives of Frances Walton who married Henry Mullins in 1762. There were 2 sons of John Mullins who had inventory of their estates taken in Goochland in 1798, namely Henry Mullins and John Mullins.

Since he might have been taxed in Goochland in 1789, it is not believed that he moved to Franklin County until 1790. Also the taxing records show him as a Captain. Need to check Revolutionary War files to confirm.
