Cicero McDaniel, my great-grandfather, was a fisherman and operated the ferry on the White River at Des Arc, AR. He and his first wife, Nancy Carlisle, had eight children. After Nancy's death he married Artie Babb. The new McDaniel/Babb family is listed in the 1910 Census, Des Arc. | ![]() |

This is the earliest photograph I have of my grandmother, taken about 1890 when she was 12. She died in 1967 in Memphis, TN at the age of 88. Her brother "Little Cicero," on the left, about age 3 in this picture, died at the early age of 12. George, center, about age 9, lived until about 1957 and died in DuValls Bluff, AR. | ![]() |
Ben Carlisle and wife, her first name is unknown, were the parents of Nancy Carlisle - making them my great-great-grandparents. His wife's last name was Nanney. |

The White River Ferry at Des Arc, AR. My great-grandfather, Cicero McDaniel, operated this ferry in the late 1800s and early 1900s. His other source of income was fishing. |

Uncle George McDaniel Sr. and two of his sisters, Aunt Hattie and Laura. I have not found a photograph of George's brother, Uncle Avery. Avery died after his brother George since he is listed in George's obituary. |
