Sans Titre IV
|
|
|
for solo timpani and multi-percussion
Duration: approx. 6 minutes
A challenging work for solo timpani and percussion, this is the fourth installment in a series of works for solo instruments
by composer William Price. Exploring the timbral relationship between timpani and non-pitched percussion, this engaging piece
oscillates between bombastic martial rhythms and lightly improvised passages.
Instrumentation: timpani (4), bass drum, bongos, woodblock, splash, crash and China cymbals, bamboo or wood wind chimes
and maracas.

for non-pitched multi-percussion
Duration: approx. 5:30 minutes
A poly-stylistic extravaganza, Variations is a work of medium difficulty for solo multiple percussion that combines and explores
rock, jazz, latin, and classical styles in a traditional theme and variations construct. Combining contemporary performance
technique with incessant grooves, the final jazz shuffle variation will undoubtedly bring the audience to their feet.
Instrumentation includes: snare drum, bass drum w/pedal, toms (3), conga, bongos, woodblocks, hi-hat, splash, crash and
ride cymbals and gong.

Boogaloo: Rough and Tumble
|
|
|
for percussion quartet or large ensemble
Duration: approx. 5:30 minutes
Boogaloo: Rough and Tumble was constructed using the late 1950's - early 60's "boogaloo" popular music style as
the main impetus for the piece. New Orleans funk and soul rhythms are combined to create a driving, syncopated framework that
supports the "quirky" melodic lines that permeate the work. Quartet version
3rd Prize Winner - 2004 Percussive Arts Society Composition Contest
Available in two versions: for 4 players ($25.00) or 6-7 players ($28.00).
Instrumentation: vibraphone, xylophone & glock., marimbas (2) and an array of small percussion (cymbals, cow bells,
toms, etc.).
