Whale Spouting

It was while photographing Gray Whales (Eschrichtius robustus)
in San Francisco Bay, looking down on them from the Dumbarton Bridge, that I realized they have two blow holes (like nostrils).
All baleen whales have two. Grays grow up to 50 feet long and weigh 40 tons.
Canon EOS 1V camera and 600 f/4 L IS lens with 2x teleconverter on
Gitzo tripod with Wimberly head. Provia 100F film, pushed two stops. 1/350 sec at f/8.
