Gull with Sea Star

Gull with Sea Star

According to Mendocino County, CA, biologist and photographer Ron LeValley, it is usually the Glaucus-winged Gull (Larus glaucescens, as shown here) that is observed to eat sea stars (this one is Ochre Sea Star, Pisaster Ochraceus).  I don't know if this ambitious bird ever got it down or not:  It wasn't going either in or out while I watched him.
