Steve's Strange Attractors

Welcome Friend - I'd offer you some tea, but I don't think they've come up with virtual tea yet have they? But you can consider it offered in that way of sharing energy we can do with each other, even across this link here. My Heart meets your Heart in that place where we can all just hang out and be family, and we are made One thereby.

You are Very Well-Come...

So. let me introduce myself a wee bit here eh? You can call me Steve, WhiteWolf, or Opuntia fragilis, sxwiyina, Watershade, Phoenix or even Hey Gurl!!!... I might respond to any of 'em. They all have their times and uses. Steven J is the name mom and dad gave me and most folks call me Steve or Steven. So many names. It can get a little confusing at times so I try to be sorta linear and not use too many of them at once. Right now I use Steve/n and Phoenix the most, tho the others still have their times. I’ll talk more about names in the next page.

Now here’s just a bit about me…

oh, firstly – that picture above really is a photo of my cabin on my homestead in the Okanogan Valley mountains in eastern WA. I welcome visitors to this luscious 40 acres we call WolfDance Sanctuary. More on that elsewhere but it you’d like to see more click on the cabin and you can go there in virtual reality. It’s a nice place and a Sanctuary to those who go there.

It’s a blessing to have in my life.

Back to me again – I’ve survived and thrived for over ½ a century now and I do have some stories to tell, some of which you’ll get in the next few pages. I’m a radical fairie and I won’t even try too hard to define it except that for me it means being a gay male in a particular way. It consciously incorporates sacred sexuality, politics, community service, environmentalism, gender awareness, sacredness in all things, a vision of life as interconnected and much more. I call myself a “Walks Between” – one who walks between the worlds of flesh and spirit, of male and female , at the twilight and dawning times, and between sanity and madness, serving community with the insights and mediation skills I seem to naturally have. There’s a lot of us like this, who don’t see ourselves as “men” but rather as a separate gender entirely. Many present day Native Americans have adopted the term “Two-Spirit” to acknowledge this path and I’ve been walking it with my eyes open for a couple decades now and have seen the power there is in being authentic about it. It’s a hard path at times, being authentic is not always prized in our culture, especially when it deviates from the norm as much as I do, but I kinda dig that. I am not into assimilating into the mainstream and fear for those queer people who really think we’re like everyone else. We’re not, but we each have to learn this one on our own, with a little help from our friends of course… Hmm, so much for my brief description eh.

OK, so now you can tell that I tend to go off on tangents sometimes. Maybe it’s cause I have gemini rising and my thoughts get caught in whatever passes thru my mind at times. Maybe it’s cause I have bipolar syndrome and boy does that one float your mind around  - sure does mine.. Whatever, I'm a global thinker and everything is connected as far as I can tell. It's just that sometimes

I'm the only one who sees the connections...

Anyway – here’s a few more tidbits and a way to contact me.  I currently live in Seattle and am on disability for the afore-mentioned bipolar thing. It’s a challenging mind-set to live with but it’s taught me a lot about compassion and about folks who live with mental illnesses. I think the territory is one that most people fear and I hope you’re not one of them. I’ve written more about what it’s like to live this way later on so I won’t blather too much now about it except to say I think it’s gonna be one of the next most important civil rights issues facing the country and our culture. How do we live with people whose minds don’t always function like everyone else’s and may need some help from time to time, but are fine, superb even, most of the time?  And do it so everybody’s rights are respected? It’s a serious thing and people like me have historically been some of the most feared and most reviled people on the planet (I’m talking the mental illness thing now, tho being queer is quite similar in this respect).  And yet we have provided the world with some of the most beautiful arts of all sorts we have, some of the most profound insights into being human, some of the people who have made our world what it is. The world needs us, and I only hope enough people get that before they try to lock us up as they have so many many times. Having been in that place myself a few times,

I can tell you it’s not fun.

OK, tangent over, back to regular programming…

I live right off Broadway, Seattle‘s main queeer drag and that’s a lot of fun at times. My, the assortment of styles abounding here. It’s a street faire every day it seems. I can get a bit overwhelmed by all the city energy tho so I’m fortunate to have WolfDance to go to when I crave solitude and true communion with Wild Nature. Ain’t nuthin’ like it. In fact my spirituality is intensely important to me and it’s based in this connection with the wild earth and all the wild things, us included, who live together here. I'll be talking more about that whole part of my life at some point. It's so much of who I am after all... Seems it's Time to come out some more about walking the the Walks Between path, or so I hear.... Got a lotta voices in my head - tell me lots of things. When to do what, where to go when. Interesting. Drives me crazy sometimes. Saves my life just as likely. Oh well. Chaos is the Way... On we go then..
