The Shrimp Boat was a popular chain of fast food restaurants back
in the 1960's and 1970's. Most of the Shrimp Boats in Georgia are
no longer open, but there is one that remains in business on the
south side of Milledgeville. Fried chicken is the most requested item
on the menu with different combinations of dinners, buckets, and
specials available.
Of course, fried shrimp is on the menu along with fried catfish, deviled crabs, and oysters. Sandwiches and fried chicken livers are other options.
You can order at the counter or from the drive-thru window. There is a small dining area inside.
Most items are cooked to order, so you may have to wait for your food to cook. If you know what you want, the Shrimp Boat does accept advance orders by phone to help minimize waiting.
Directions: The Shrimp Boat is less than a mile south of Georgia Military College. From E. Hancock Street in downtown Milledgeville, go south on S. Elbert St. (Ga. 112) for 0.9 miles. The Shrimp Boat will be on the right (west) side.
