Fried chicken dinner with collards, corn, and snap beans  (03/17/11)

The walls of the H & H Restaurant are decorated with Allman Brothers memorabilia, as the H & H was a favorite of the Allman Brothers during their early years in Macon. The H & H owner Mama Louise has been serving up soul food here for over forty years.

H & H's fried chicken is some the best in Macon and is on the menu every day. The other meats vary daily and include bar-b-q ribs, baked ham, and fried pork chops. Three vegetables come with the meal, along with a square of cornbread. Drinks are sweet or unsweetened tea and lemonade.

The desserts are extra and may include apple or peach cobbler, sweet potato pie, banana or bread pudding.

Seat yourself in the H&H and you will be served. One quirk: walk back through the kitchen to the cash register to pay. Take-out is also available.

Directions from I-75, exit 164: go east on Forsyth Street a little less than a mile. H&H will be on the left (north) side of the road.
