Barbecue pork plate (July 11, 2010)

Barbecue chicken plate (July 11, 2010)
Chopped pork in a tangy sauce and a spicy Brunswick stew are
featured, but the menu at Fincher's has a good selection from which
to choose. Others items include ribs, pork chops, chicken,
cheeseburgers, fries, and potato salad. "The Pig" is most popular
sandwich. "The Pig Special" is a barbecue sandwich with cole slaw
and tomato on toasted bread. This combination works well with
Fincher's zesty barbecue.
Fincher's barbecue is famous for being taken into space by astronaut
Sonny Carter in 1989 on the space shuttle Discovery.
The newer Fincher's location
This is a newer Fincher's in a nicer part of
town. It is convenient from both the I-475 Macon bypass as well as
I-75. It has a nice dining area - seat yourself and a waitress will
serve you. A drive-in window is also available for to-go orders
Directions from I-75, exit 155: go east on Hartley
Bridge Road a little less than 3 miles. Hartley Bridge Road will end
when it comes to Houston Road. Turn left (north) and Fincher's will
be on the left just past the intersection.
The original Fincher's location
This Fincher's a fifties-style drive-in with a small dining area as well. It is very easy to get to from I-75 once you know where it is located, but don't take the I-475 Macon bypass.
Directions for southbound traffic from I-75 (Exit 160B):
At the bottom of the exit ramp, turn left (east) at the stop sign
and go about 0.6 mile. Turn left (north) at red light and go about
0.1 mile on Houston Avenue.
Directions for northbound traffic from I-75 (Exit 160):
At the bottom of the exit ramp, turn left (north) at the
stop sign and get in the right lane and go 0.2 miles. Then turn
right (east) on Rocky Creek Road and go about 0.7 mile. Turn left at
red light (north) and go about 0.1 mile on Houston Avenue.
