Dawson's Kitchen in Macon has good old fashioned Southern cooking. Fried chicken is on the menu every day, but the other entrees vary from day to day. Some of the entrees are beef tips over rice, country steak, BBQ ribs, fried pork chops, and meatloaf. Vegetables may include fried okra, cabbage, dressing, field peas, rutabagas and collards.

There is also a bakery with a good selection of sweets. Dawson's is primarily a take-out restaurant. There are a few tables in the front where you can eat inside if you want, but most people seem to get their food to go.

Directions from I-75, exit 164: go west on U.S. Highway 41N Business (Vineville Ave.) for about 2.2 miles. Turn left at the traffic light onto Brookdale Ave. and Dawson's Kitchen will be on the left just after the turn.

If the weather is nice and you would like to eat outside, there is a park less than half a mile from Dawson's Kitchen. Continue on Brookdale Ave. and then turn left on Rose Ave. This will lead you to a small lake that has picnic tables.
