Carter's Fried Chicken is a popular place in Cordele for fast food and is
known for its good fried chicken. Fried fish, chicken livers, and slaw dogs
are some of the other menu choices. Side items include fried green beans,
sweet potato fries, and fried okra.
The kids meal choices are chicken leg, hamburger, or cheeseburger. Corn dogs
are also available on the menu.
Sweet treats offered include doughnuts, peach tarts, and other bakery items.
Order at the window outside or from the drive-thru window. Carter's has been
open since the 1960's. In June of 2007, a new building replaced the old one
at the same location. There is no inside dining area, but there are picnic
tables for eating outside as shown in the picture above.
Tip for I-75 northbound travelers: A good place to eat your food is at the
Rest Area which is just a few minutes north of Carter's after you get back
on I-75. This Rest Area has a picnic area with covered tables and rest rooms
Directions rom I-75, Exit 101: go west on U.S. 280 for
almost 2 miles and then turn left at the traffic light onto U.S. 41. Go
south for about a half a mile. Carter's will be on the left (east) side of
the road.
