Or it can be accessed from the southeast side of Oglethorpe St. as usual.

The Bear's Den is a small cafeteria that has some of the best fried food in Macon. It is a very popular destination for lunch and has been open since 1989. Fried chicken, chicken tenders, macaroni & cheese, and greens beans are popular choices that are available every day. The other menu items vary daily.

The menu has a good selection of vegetables that change daily and includes such items as fried green tomatoes, casseroles, greens, creamed corn, fried okra, and potato salad. There is a good selection of homemade desserts including pecan pie, banana pudding, and cakes. The desserts are sold in plastic containers, which is convenient if you want to take them with you to eat later.

There is a separate door on the right side of the building for carry-out orders.

Directions from I-75, exit 164: go east for 0.4 miles and then turn right (south) at the traffic light onto College St. Go 0.3 miles and then turn left onto Oglethorpe St. The Bears Den will be on the left (north side) just a short distance after the turn.
