Title: Twist of Fate
Disclaimer: I don't own them, never will
His eyes followed her movements as she paced back and forth. Her hips swayed with each step, her fan swinging wildly
as she ranted about being ignored. How anyone could ignore her was beyond him. She was loud and voiced her opinions, whether
they were wanted or not. Her actions alone were meant to catch a person's eye, each movement calculated and precise.
She turned to face him and he found his eyes wandering across her form. He felt a twinge of pain in his back, but ignored
it as it quickly faded. Kagura cleared her throat and he found himself suddenly caught in her gaze.
He stared at her blankly and she huffed. Her rant began again and he found himself unable to concentrate on anything
she said. He was focused on watching her movements. Suddenly he found her fan in front of his face. She flipped it open
and lightly tapped it against his forehead. "Are you even listening to me?" Shaking his head he watched as she
sat next to him. "It is not wise to ignore me."
Turning to her, he responded. "I have been distracted lately. It's hard for me to concentrate on anything."
"I do believe those are the most words I've ever heard from you at one time." He scowled, refusing to meet
her teasing gaze. She seemed to have resumed her ranting once more. This time he caught a few words, mostly about Naraku
and how much she hated being a lackey.
The hand holding the fan lashed out and he stared as wind blades neatly destroyed part of the wall. Naraku would not
be amused, but he knew Kagura did not care. She loved any sense of rebellion, no matter how small it was. He reached out
to touch her arm and she turned to him, her words trailing off. Raising an eyebrow, she motioned for him to talk.
";Don't you ever tire of angering Naraku?"
She laughed and tapped him lightly with the fan. "I need some fun in this hellish existence."
Gripping her arm, he frowned. "But is it worth it?"
Shaking his hand from her arm she glared at him. "Why are you so talkative so suddenly?"
"I am unsure. I just want to know why you act the way you do." Confusion marred her features and she was silent.
He found himself thinking that there was a first time for everything, but the thought of Kagura silent was disturbing.
"I act the way I feel like acting. It adds a little adventure to my mundane life" Her eyes held a guarded
"But if you continue to act against Naraku, you could die.."
"Death would be a better alternative to this joke of a life I lead."
He stared into her eyes, holding her attention. "You shouldn't say such things. One could get the wrong idea."
His hand unconsciously curled around the handle of his weapon.
";What are you babbling about?" Her eyes shifted to his hand, blinking.
He quickly raised the weapon and slashed her shoulder, the blade slicing cleanly through her kimonos and hitting bone.
She gasped in shock as he pulled the blade from her and proceeded to press it against her neck.
Her voice trailed off as the blade cut her throat. Her eyes widened as she tried unsuccessfully to gasp for air. Their
gazes locked and he fell to the ground unconscious.
Laughter rang through the small space. "Kagura, you should really learn not to share things with my puppets."
Naraku laughed again as he watched her lips silently form the word 'bastard.' Her body stilled and he found himself almost
regretting his decision. He was going to miss torturing her.
