After putting on a show for the residents,
I spent time telling them about our
trip around the U.S. visiting places in
every state. Celiene spent her time
getting petted!

We visited a lot of residents in two buildings
and Leasa Tody (the Activities Coodinator) was
so cool. She even got my brothers and
me some lunch; bonus!

Mom got the directions wrong, so our visit was
really short. But, Celiene didn't mind.
She always loves to get petted any time!

The Frontier Council was awesome.
Probably the best Therapy Dog fist yet!
After I did some tricks with Celiene
and told them about the requirements
of volunteering, we all played games
and ate cookies. They also gave me a
patch for my Girl Scout vest
and a travel journal. THANKS!

Now that I'm working on my Girl Scout
Bronze award, as my service project
I'm spreading the word to other
Scouts about volunteering and
helping the community. I want to still
visit Nursing Homes and hospitals, but
I also think it's important to get
others helping out to spread
Hope and Joy in the World!

Girl Scout Outreach Program
Brownie/Junior Troop #6674
October 25, 2007
I haven't spoke in front of so many people
with a microphone, on a stage! The 5th
grade classes will be learning about Service
Dogs soon, so I talked to them about my
experience meeting a 14-yr old girl who
fostered service dog pups. It's how I got
interested in Therapy Dogs; to learn how
to train and handle working dogs. I hope
to foster service dogs when I'm older.
I also got to speak with an Outreach
Girl Scout troop about how important it
is for kids these days to do volunteer and
community work. The world needs more
people helping out - and that's what
Girl Scouts do best!

I had an excellent time with the girls! I did a
Girl Scout activity, then showed them how
to obedience train their own dogs in case
they would want to do volunteer therapy visits.
What a great bunch of Scouts!!

Yet, another fun visit!! It was the smallest group I've
been with, and they were lots of fun to talk with
about Therapy Dogs and training, and how
animals communicate. One of the girls even
emailed me that night and said she really enjoyed
our visit. Her name was Sam. Thanks, everyone!

December 17, 2007
We already did a visit to Texas last year, but
Celiene and I have been working with
Girl Scouts in different places to teach
them about understanding & training their
own dogs. Maybe one day they'll become a
Therapy Dog Handler and spread joy
to others.
